At Armani Privé, Haute Couture gets playful for Spring 2024

Armani Privé Spring Summer 2024 Haute Couture collection.

As Haute Couture week unfolds in Paris, one can't help but think about the Oscars. This is especially true for the Armani Privé Spring Summer 2024 presentation, which coincided with the day the Academy Award nominees were announced. The Italian designer has always had a strong presence on the Oscars red carpet; just last year Nicole Kidman and Winnie Harlow attended the festivities in Armani Privé, and earlier this month at the Golden Globes Margot Robbie continued her throng of Barbie-inspired looks with a custom hot pink Armani Privé gown. If Robbie opts to wear the House again at the Oscars, in his Spring Summer 2024 Haute Couture collection, Giorgio has ensured the presence of a magenta gown with her name on it.

But before that exact exit, a palette of peacock blue, silver, and a whisper of red swept through the collection, bleeding together as if painted in watercolour. Tiered dresses swished like loose rose petals, the Italian designer's signature holographic silk organza gleamed and was cut into high-waist cigarette pants, long draping skirts and bodices.

This season, Giorgio Armani unleashed his playful side, loosening his usual restraint and simplicity in favour of maximalist lace appliqués, sheer layers, peplum skirts, beaded kimonos and nature-tinted prints. It's clear he instructed the models in this spirit too. Intermittently they would twirl on the runway, a smirk playing on the edge of their lips.

Beauty notes remixed the classic red lip and blue eyeshadow combo, which, when combined with the cropped hairstyles, which comprised braids that were pinned back, had a transportive effect, recalling a 1920s Flapper style. Needless to say it was elegant and sultry, a mood that would serve any Hollywood actress well during Awards Season.
