1/11 Achilles Heel, Greenpoint @achillesheelbk.
“My favourite bar in New York. Achilles is off the beaten track but well worth the journey. The cocktails are out of this world and the equally notable food menu changes daily.”
“One belongs to New York instantly, one belongs to it as much in five minutes as in five years.” – Tom Wolfe
There truly is something instantaneous about New York. From the moment you step out into the city’s ceaseless flow a connection is forged – sometimes uncomfortable, sometimes pure bliss – but a connection no less that hooks your full attention right from the start. Every skinny street promises a new taste, sound and style, every bar a new scene. It’s a place where dreams are made and futures carved out, where hearts are filled to there fullest, and broken and filled up once more. A place laden with equal measures of panache and grit, and one that never fails to charm with its dizzying display of kaleidoscopic culture. It is a home away from home for many, myself included. Here, I share my edit of the places I return to time and time again.
