Fluidform founder Kirsten King on the balance between beauty and wellness and how she nourishes her body

Kirsten King

For Fluidform founder Kirsten King, beauty and wellness are inextricably linked. A woman who is always on the move – whether in the studio training, filming content or heading off for her daily evening walk with her children and husband – King's approach is complimentary to her routine and guided by intuition.

A big believer in allowing the body time to heal, (she visits the infrared sauna for 40 minutes once a week), King's beauty routine is rooted in nourishment, hydration and rehabilitation from the inside out. Vitamin C and PEARL Coconut Collagen are her non-negotioables, and Gua Sha her new favourite addition to her routine. Here, she takes us through her daily routine, the products she leans on to get her morning started and the best beauty advice she's ever received.

What is your morning beauty routine?

Rationale #1 The Cleanser, #2 The Serum and #3 The Day Creme. Macabalm for my lips and anywhere needing some extra hydration. Then, I finish off with PEARL Coconut Collagen in my black coffee and Estee Lauder Double Wear with SPF.

What is your night beauty routine?

Rationale #1 The Cleanser followed by Estee Lauder ANR and Basecamp Gua Sha. Incorporating Gua Sha into my routine is actually one of the best things I have ever started!

Describe what you do for a living? What does a typical day look like for you?

I am the owner and principal instructor of Fluidform. A typical day for me starts with my own 20 minutes of movement, a morning of teaching in the studio and spending the rest of the day working, brainstorming, planning and discussing ideas with my team. I like to end the day with a long walk with my girls and husband before we eat dinner together. I spend a little bit of time programming and finishing off work in the evenings, watching a new series with my husband or reading with the girls.

What is the supermarket/drug store/chemist beauty product(s) that you use and love?

Lypo-Spheric Vitamin C (Livon Laboratories).

What is your main form of beauty body maintenance? What products do you use on your body?

When I am filming workouts or moving my body more than usual I will spend a lot of time dry brushing followed by massaging my body. This helps to relieve any tension or tightness and also keeps my skin feeling hydrated and soft. I use Aesop body lotion on my body. I will also infrared sauna for 40 minutes each week to relieve any sore muscles or joints. This time helps me to relax and improves my sleep.

How does fitness fit into your beauty and wellness regime?

Naturally, exercise and fitness plays a big role in my regime and lifestyle. I feel balanced and healthy when I am giving attention to both exercise and wellness. When I film workouts over a few days, I prioritise my usual beauty and wellness rituals to stay grounded. My skincare routine, staying hydrated with lots of water and PEARL collagen, lots of stretching and dry brushing and massaging my body.

When I am teaching and working long days, I prioritise daily movement. Just 20 minutes a day is my time to breathe and move. This keeps me feeling strong, clear-minded and focused.

What do you do when your body needs to recover?

Infrared saunas, lots of water, magnesium and rest. Swimming in the pool or ocean also helps me to reset. And of course, lots of green veggie juices!

You’re tired or rundown: what is your beauty hack?

Basecamp Gua Sha morning and night. Or a facial treatment from All Saint Clinic.

What is the one non-negotiable in your beauty routine?

Water, sun, sleep and movement.

What is the best advice on beauty you’ve received?

Sunscreen always, even on a cloudy day and less is more!

What is the best advice on health you’ve received?

Listen to your body, if it doesn’t feel right there is usually a reason.

What is the one product you can’t live without?

Vitamin C.
