Young designer Marine Serre is no new face, having had all eyes on her and her every move since taking the LVMH Prize in 2017 and her initiation into BOFs 500. Best known for her signature half crescent moon motifs and luxe sportswear aesthetics, critically acclaimed french designer Marine Serre teams up with Mytheresa with the release of their latest capsule collection.
For Mytheresa's exclusive capsule, the designer splits the collection into two themes. The first note of the collection paying tribute to the interests of the people, being inspired by comfort and activewear in addressing our change in lifestyle and what we may need right now spending so much more time in our homes.
The activewear inspired capsule includes the use of bodycon style jersey, imprinted in her signature crescent moons in different shades of brown and beige, constructed into skin tight bodysuits, leggings and tops - all while still achieving pieces that are sleek, sophisticated and clean yet playful. Taking a note from athletics and performance gear such as second skin cycling suits and sportswear cuts, the collection has considered everything from inclusivity and diversity, making sure the colour combinations can be well represented on all different skin tones.
The second part of the capsule collection takes on a different theme giving a well deserved salute to reducing environmental waste and preservation. For the second half of the collection, Serre sources and uses different up-cycled and regenerated fabrics to create her pieces. With beautiful billowy dresses and two-piece sets made from regenerated bed sheets in shades of cinematic blue and flatteringly cut tops and trousers made from denim and up-cycled leather, Marine Serre doesn't leave out any detail, playing on trompe l'oeil, subtly imprinting her signature moon print all through the collection including her leather pieces.
