The 2023 Grammy Awards will pay tribute to 50 years of hip-hop

2023 grammys

There's plenty planned for the 2023 Grammys. Set to take place in the US on Sunday, February 5 – that's Monday, February 6 at 12:00pm for those watching on from Australia, the ceremony is set to return to Los Angeles after a hiatus last year. So what's on the cards for the biggest night in music? Find all the details, below.

Who is presenting?

Although Trevor Noah will reprise his role as host for the evening, he's not the only figure guiding us through the festivities. Jill Biden, of all people, has signed up for a presenter role for the 2023 Grammys, where she'll be in good company alongside Cardi B, Olivia Rodrigo, Dwayne Johnson, Viola Davis, Billy Crystal, Shania Twain and for some reason, James Corden.

Where can I watch the ceremony?

In previous years, Australians could catch the Grammys by flicking through to Channel 7, however there's no word on who will be hosting the ceremony this year. However, if you have a Paramount+ account you have the option of streaming it live there.

What about the performances?

With the recent expansion of the Grammy Awards by five categories, it's easy to see why you'd need some entertainment to break up all the card reading and acceptance speeches. Given that 2023 marks the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, the recording academy have lined up a multi-musician segment to celebrate. Produced and directed by Questlove, expect performances by everyone from Missy Elliott, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Busta Rhymes, Queen Latifah, Lil Wayne, Run-D.M.C, Public Enemy, Nelly, Ice T and Salt-N-Pepa, to name a few.

Along with the hip-hop tribute, there will be an in memoriam segment to honour the lives of Loretta Lynn, Christine McVie and Takeoff with performances from Kacey Musgraves, Sheryl Crow, Bonnie Raitt, Mick Fleetwood and Quavo.

Harry Styles, Lizzo, Sam Smith, Steve Lacy, Mary J. Blige, Bad Bunny and Kim Petra are also scheduled to perform.
