As a chronic wearer of mini skirts, I am pleased to report that there is a forecasted return to practicality on the horizon. Apologies to the Diesel belt skirts and Miu Miu pleated micro-minis, but this season is all about the skort. Yes, just like the ones you used to wear in primary school or on the netball court – but hear me out, I strongly believe they should have a place in your wardrobe as an adult, too.
The humble skort has had a bad rep over the years – it isn't closely associated with being particularly fashion-forward, and it's historically not been considered very sexy – but it's practical, functional and comfortable, three qualities that most minis, unfortunately, lack. But more than that, we're starting to see brands take to the trend in stores and on runways (yes, we see you Prada SS24), which means that there are a multitude of cute new designs on the market ready to give your minis a run for their money.
