You can now buy a piece from Vivienne Westwood’s personal archive

Dame Vivienne Westwood: A visionary in every right. The world has witnessed at large what the ingenue has done with fashion, activism and art. Now there's a chance for you to get acquainted with Viv, perhaps in the most intimate fashion yet. In her passing, she has left a final parting gift to her devotees. A large raft of Westwood's personal collection will go for sale under British auction house Christie's. The collection will include prized inclusions from AW83s Witches, AW98s Dressed to Scale, and AW05s Propaganda. Expect exaggerated silhouettes, draped corsetry, and fine-boning detailing across the board.

Where and when will you be able to auction?

Vivienne Westwood: The Personal Collection live sale is taking place at Christie’s London, 8 King Street, London, SW1Y 6QT on 25 June, with an online auction taking place alongside from 14-28 June.

Who is organising the event?

The event will be managed by the estate and family of Vivienne Westwood. In addition to that, proceeds from the auction will funnel into Westwood's sustainability-forward charity  The Vivienne Foundation, Amnesty International and Médecins Sans Frontières. Andreas Kronthaler, Westwood’s husband and creative partner has also curated the selection. On Westwood, Kronthaler says: "She was a rebel, an outsider who had a calling to be different, to explode the system. She was an original thinker. Vivienne was our heroine.”

What else will be on?

For those of us with a padlock on our coin purse, a free viewing of selected pieces from her collection will be available for public access at the Christie's HQ in London. Adrian Hume Sayer, head of sale at the auction house notes, "This will be a unique opportunity for audiences to encounter both the public and the private world of the great Dame Vivienne Westwood and to raise funds for the causes in which she so ardently believed.”
