St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival, Sydney

Thirty three bands touring seven cities across two weeks: St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival is any live music-lover’s calendar highlight. The travelling festival makes its way to Sydney’s College of the Arts in Rozelle this Saturday, February 4, for a day of local and international talent, food stalls, markets and vinyl treasure hunting.

Spoilt for choice is an understatement when it comes to the 2017 lineup. Don’t miss Tame Impala for the end of their Currents tour, and last performance together for a while, on the Park Stage. Later, Jagwar Ma and Floating Points are in prime positions, closing the festival on the Future Classic and Spinning Top stages, respectively. Whitney, Julia Jacklin and Tash Sultana will also be performing throughout the day. Check out the set list and playing times to avoid regrets later.

Take …
Get festival-ready with a pair of denim shorts (try these from The Fifth), light dresses perfect for dancing, and a pair of JAGGAR Footwear boots – the kind that will withstand even the rowdiest of crowds. Beauty is best kept simple. Sunscreen is a must, followed by By Terry Terrybliss Densiliss Sun glow, some RMS Lip2Cheek in Modest and a Malin+Goetz Lip moisturiser.

Taste …
If the stellar lineup wasn’t enough of a drawcard, Sydney’s Laneway will be catered by some of the city's best eateries, including Belle’s Hot Chicken, Boon Cafe, Porteño and Mary’s. My pick: get yourself an Ebi Burger from the guys at the Ume stall – you won’t regret it. Other must-visits are the Good Times Trailer Park for a mid-afternoon cocktail and the Le Petit Rosé garden, debuting at this year’s festival, for a glass of champagne with the main stage within earshot.

Shop …
Sydney’s own Red Eye Records will be setting up shop for the day for the record lovers among us, as well as an arts and clothing market curated by Dear Pluto – you’re one stop shop for the best vintage threads, jewellery and accessories.
