There is something so immeasurably comforting about a Scandinavian interior. It's probably why this region - that compromises just four countries and 27 million people - has redefined style and design across the entire planet.

Scandinavian design is about smart design but comfortable design. As a child, I remember the spaciousness and wonder I would feel entering my Farmor's apartment in Varberg, a small town an hour South of Gothenburg. The wood floors, big windows and slim line furniture gave the feeling of space - yet it was just an ordinary two bedroom apartment. In the winter, we'd spend the whole day inside making ginger bread and eating kanelbullar in her cosy galley kitchen. And in the summer, we'd open the windows and let the breeze breathe energy into the space. Her apartment and its design was something that could offer both unbridled comfort, warmth and all day entertainment in the long and dark winter, but also breezey relaxation during the 18-daylight-hour days of summer. And it is this that is the essence of true Scandinavian design. It's transformative, it's innovative and it's simple.
