Nyaluak Leth, Keiynan Lonsdale and Carla Uriarte get into the groove with RIMOWA

In partnership with RIMOWA

In a world where personal style is as much about self-expression as it is about function, the accessories we carry often say just as much about us as the clothes we wear. With this in mind, we spoke with three of our favourite creative minds — poet and curator Nyaluak Leth, artist and Sydney nightlife stalwart Carla Uriarte, and actor-musician Keiynan Lonsdale — each of whom embodies a fluid approach to style that balances intention, utility, and flair.

From Nyaluak’s timeless yet mood-driven shifts in wardrobe, to Carla’s effortless blend of comfort and elegance, and Keiynan’s playful mix of structure and freedom, each conversation underscores a simple truth: style is never static. Here, they meet the RIMOWA Groove Collection – Small and Large Crossbody, Sliding Hobo and Shopping Bag – an expanded legacy of design innovation that translates the brand's iconic grooved aluminium into a series of modern, versatile, leather silhouettes.

Sleek yet adaptable, these bags meet them where they are, carrying not just lip gloss, journals, or children’s toys, but also fragments of identity, memory, and creative fuel. Here, the intersections of practicality and design become a lens through which individuality shines – unforced, intentional, and beautifully personal.

Nyaluak Leth

How would you describe your personal style?

It’s always shifting depending on where I’m at in life. But I’m usually drawn to pieces that feel timeless, and versatile; things that don’t scream for attention but still sing. I like when clothes hold intention or tell a little story. Some days it’s soft and effortless, other days it’s bold and a little dramatic. Just depends on the mood really.

Which RIMOWA Groove bag is your go-to right now?

Though I've only had it for a short time – the Large Crossbody has been my go-to lately. It fits all the essentials without feeling bulky, and I love that it moves with me whether I’m headed to the library, a shoot, or a poetry night. It’s super clean, unfussy, and just works.

What are the essential qualities of a bag for you? Functionality, design, durability?

I need something that works with my day and not against it. A strong and thick strap is a must! Room for the basics: ID, lip gloss, lotion, a notebook, maybe a snack. If I can wear it during the day and still take it with me to an event or night out, it’s a win.

What are some of your on-the-go essentials? What do you always keep in your bag on the move?

My Local Supply sunnies, press powder, lip gloss, D&G Light Blue perfume, and a pen and notepad – always. You never know when you’ll need to sign something... or write down a line that hits you mid-walk.

What’s fuelling your creative fire right now?

Lately, it’s been Poetiq Honesty – the poetry night I host and curate. I’ve taken a bit of a break from writing just for myself, and instead I’m creating space for others. Especially Black poets here in Sydney. Seeing what happens when people feel seen... that’s what’s fuelling me.

What’s your favourite way to personalise or style your bag?

Inside the bag is an old coin, and whatever crystals my spirit needs to carry that day. On the outside: charms, always – little things I’ve picked up on travels or gifts from people I love. They make the bag feel like mine – even if it's brand new.

How do you balance practicality and style when it comes to your everyday carry?

If it holds what I need, feels good on, and doesn’t throw off the fit – it’s staying. I like pieces that do their job without trying too hard. Style should feel natural, not forced.

Keiynan Lonsdale

How would you describe your personal style?

Sometimes it’s sharp and tailored, sometimes playful, baggy and relaxed. I love mixing elegance with a sense of freedom, emitting those warm, soft, and sensual masculine vibes. I'm really loving earthy tones a lot at the moment too.

Which RIMOWA Groove bag is your go-to right now?

Right now it’s the Sliding Hobo bag! I love how it feels both classic and fresh – structured but still playful, which suits the way I live and move. Can I get my hands on the rest?

What are the essential qualities of a bag for you. Functionality, design, durability?

All three. A bag has to work, but it also has to speak. I'm usually so on the run, and honestly, I haven't gone for luxury bags. But, being able to have something so stylish and chic is truly helping bring calm, focus, and even more style to the chaos.

What are some of your on-the-go essentials? What do you always keep in your bag on the move?

Headphones for music and writing, a notebook or journal, water, things to freshen up for when I’m running around, usually something symbolic, and often a crystal for grounding.

What’s fuelling your creative fire right now?

I'm such a sponge right now and I'm so in love with my work and learning from my collaborators. I'm definitely traveling a lot, half the year at least... Europe especially excites me right now – it's creatively dangerous, and the artistic history is so rich and tangible.

What’s your favourite way to personalise or style your bag?

I haven't personalised it yet, I'm just really enjoying it as it is perfectly designed. Simple goes a long way – sometimes even just the way you carry it becomes the signature. I will say that it's making me want to pull together even cleaner fits.

How do you balance practicality and style when it comes to your everyday carry?

I think practicality is style, when you choose the right pieces. If a bag works for my life, and it looks good while doing it, that’s the sweet spot. I try to be conscious of both things and remind myself there's a fun partnership there.

Carla Uriarte

How would you describe your personal style?

Authentic, comfortable, sporty, elegant. I'm kind of maturing, but also who cares.

Which RIMOWA Groove bag is your go-to right now?

The Small Crossbody in Pink – with all the secret pockets.

What are the essential qualities of a bag for you? Functionality, design, durability?

I either like a giant bag or something tiny that can fit all of my stuff. Though of course she is durable and can survive all elements – especially as an artist and bar owner who is running after her three-year-old.

What are some of your on-the-go essentials? What do you always keep in your bag on the move?

I never leave home without a lip duo for moisture and the effective 'I am awake and look like I care' look.

What’s fuelling your creative fire right now?

I have been diving into my deep self and waking up all that is dormant.

What’s your favourite way to personalise or style your bag?

I like hanging my keys on my bag. A good keychain with interesting elements is practical and beautiful. Also this helps me open doors quickly.

How do you balance practicality and style when it comes to your everyday carry?

Mixing functionality with beauty. I like to feel elevated without trying too hard. The trick to this is being very mindful about the stuff that is entering your life. Living with things that are well curated makes me happy and there is no better style trick than a smile.
