From babydoll dresses to pink leather bras: We can’t get enough of Olivia Rodrigo’s style

Olivia Rodrigo is not the first person to make the transition from Disney child star to well-rounded adult. But she has managed to bridge the gap without, at least from where we're standing, the growing pains of those who've come before. This is particularly true of her style.

Known for a blend of pop punk that transcends her music and drips into her wardrobe, Rodrigo is often seen performing in plaid, Dr. Martens, arm warmers and platform heels. While for her red carpet outfits, the musician is frequently dressed in Saint Lauren and Maison Valentino. And as an ambassador for Lancome, Rodrigo straddles the realms of music, beauty and fashion, and nails all three.

Lately though, with the release of her latest track 'Drop Dead', from her third album You seem pretty Sad For a Girl So In Love, it appears Rodrigo is pivoting her style to keep in line with the record's tone. She's trading in her Converse high tops for Mary Janes, the fishnet tights for sheer pantyhose (with a ladder or two for good measure), and has switched her signature hue from purple to pink. But of course, still keeping to her classic babydoll dress from go-to brands like Chloe, My Mum Made It and Miu Miu. In other words, Rodrigo has gone from Liv Tyler in Empire Records to The Craft and she's got a pitch perfect soundtrack for the shift.

You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So In Love might fall under the umbrella of sad girl music — it’s in the name, after all — but it remains unmistakably Rodrigo: punchy, diaristic and self-assured. Think of it as her signature aesthetic, just sharpened. The DNA of her earlier style is still there too, only now it’s more refined. Part of that evolution can be credited to her stylists, sisters Chloe and Chenelle Delgadillo, the duo behind many of Rodrigo’s most memorable looks, as well as the wardrobes of Rosalía, Willow Smith, SZA and RUSSH Beauty Annual cover star Devon Lee Carlson. As this new era takes shape, the question isn’t whether Rodrigo has found her footing — it’s how far she’ll take it, particularly if she takes the stage with a possible tour.

Below, we pay homage to the style of rock-pop princess, Olivia Rodrigo. Here are some of her best looks to date.
