Since Miu Miu debuted its first Upcycled collection back in December 2020, we've seen Ms. Prada reinvigorate vintage dresses, collaborate with Levi’s on a capsule of reworked denim, and reimagine a series of leather jackets with faux fur trims and jewelled shoulders which subsequently appeared on the Miu Miu FW22 runway. Now, with its fourth limited edition Upcycled drop, Miu Miu narrows its focus on denim once more, with the addition of handbags.
Announced on January 9 in a campaign shot by Jet Swan, styled by Lotta Volkova, and starring Ever Anderson with model Huijia Chen, Miu Miu has fired another bullseye. Sourcing denim jeans from across the globe, all of which preceded the year 2000, Miu Miu has reworked the material into an offering of one-of-a-kind slouchy jeans, trucker jackets, baseball caps, denim bralettes, cut-offs, and accessories like headbands and hair clips.

Styles are intermittently hand-sewn with sequin flowers, silk chiffon petals, and black crystals, and feature suede collars and hardware with an antique patina. They have then been styled with vermillion polo shirts featuring the Miu Miu logo, the Milan-based fashion House's slingbacks and brogues from its collaboration with Church's, all set against a cherry red background. The capsule feels grounded by denim's 50s working class heritage, yet spiked with Miuccia Prada's signature je ne sais quoi.
Upcycled handbags have also been incorporated into the latest drop, crafted from deadstock leather off cuts from the brand's atelier. The handbags have a patchwork quality; a pastiche of varying leather finishes and patinas, and include styles like Miu Miu's IVY Tote and Arcadie Top Handle.
