Shapewear has always been the quiet achiever – smoothing here, holding there, living just out of sight. But lately, we’ve been thinking about what happens when it comes out to play. Lingerie worn as the outfit, not under it. Sheer slips catching the light on bare skin. Bodysuits under blazers. Pieces that follow you from morning coffee to midnight dance floor.
Enter Simone Pérèle’s Bodies collection – shapewear, reimagined. Designed to embrace, not disguise, each piece balances French elegance with fabrics so soft you forget they’re doing anything at all. Sculpting without the squeeze. Lace that’s meant to be seen. Invisible shorts under silk, high-waisted thongs that move with you. This is lingerie as a state of mind – confident, unconfined, and entirely your own.
To prove it's true versatility, five RUSSH editors are putting some of the collection's key pieces to the test; embracing the spirit of underwear as outerwear to show just how easy it is to style the new Simone Pérèle Bodies collection in your everyday wardrobe.

I’m a neutrals-wearer at heart, but I think this soft baby pink Simone Pérèle Subtile Control Bodysuit in Peau Rose is the perfect accent – perfectly paired with some baggy blue jeans or a sheer pink skirt (forever dying over this horse-embroidered one from Venroy) and some scrunched down grey socks (TEKLA do the perfect cashmere ones in slate grey) and loafers (HEREU are my all-timers).
Jewellery-wise I’d keep things simple: some silver rings from Tiffany & Co. and By Charlotte. This black zippy bag from AEST Studio leans into that ballet studio vibe, and I’d be filling it with: YSL Loveshine Gloss in Lucky Moonstone, CHANEL 1957 Les Exclusifs Parfum (white musk accord, delicate bergamot, iris and neroli, and a touch of cedar, honeyed and powdery notes), Aesop’s Resurrection Hand Cream (mostly because it matches, but also because the mandarin notes are divine), and of course, I never leave without a book in tow. Right now, it’s Bad Taste by Nathalie Olah.

Possibly my universally favourite outfit is a black bodysuit with denim. I’ve been wearing variations of this for at least 10 years. I loved the era of the straight-across bodysuit à la Bella Hadid and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, but these days my favourite iteration is a more lingerie-inspired look. It feels like a more modern interpretation of this style. In fact, I tend to wear actual shapewear like this Simone Pérèle Control Bodysuit – it gives you support in all the right places.
I used to opt for a skinny, high-waisted jean, but now I pair it with something baggy and mid-rise. I sometimes fold down the waistband if I want a low-rise look. Then add your strappiest black heel (I love my Proenza Schouler pair), a chunky earring, plus a bold lip (I wear Charlotte Tilbury Walk of No Shame), and you have an elevated yet casual outfit that you’ll always feel good in – even on your worst days.
If you want to follow the same codes but dress this look up even more, swap the jeans out for a sheer dress. It goes to show that if you have the right bodysuit, it will be one of the most versatile pieces in your wardrobe.

Visible bra straps might once have been seen as a fashion faux-pas, but I love that recent runways are redefining the narrative. The French lace on this Subtile Wirefree Triangle Bra by Simone Pérèle really begs to be seen. I also love that the BODIES collection is all about mixing and matching – so I can easily pair a wirefree bra with a more supportive brief, like the Story High Waist Shaper Brief in either black or Peau Rose. I’m taking cues from Miu Miu’s Autumn Winter 2025 collection and pairing mine with an oversized cardigan that falls off one shoulder — this grey one by Allude is perfect.
I’d finish the look off with relaxed jeans and a pair of ballet flats by day. And if you’re looking for something a little more nighttime-appropriate, switch the cardigan out for a sheer top and a lot of jewellery. I’m so obsessed with this silk organza creation by P Johnson, layered under this tennis necklace, and maybe this pearl signet, too.

My favourite thing about the new Simone Pérèle Bodies collection is just how comfortable the pieces are – which isn’t always the case with other shapewear I’ve worn in the past. It’s one of the reasons why I can basically wear the Story Shaper Short bodysuit as a piece of activewear all day and you’ll never find me complaining.
I love to give this piece a more sporty feel, and layer a great windbreaker like my super chic UNIQLO short parka. On my feet, a trusty pair of Salomon XT-6’s for unlimited comfort, and this quilted Burberry cross-body for all the essentials.
To elevate this more casual look, I love to style it with a statement piece of jewellery, like this Tennis necklace from Mejuri, styled over the funnel neck of the jacket. Sunglasses are essential – even on cloudy days – and I’ve been wearing these Bottega Veneta shields on repeat since I bought them, which will give some edge.

As an avid sheer styler, I’m all for wearing underwear as outerwear. For a perfect night out outfit I would pop on my Simone Pérèle Wish Half Cup bra with their Essentiel Control Briefs in black, making sure to choose a fuller covered underwear as on top as the shorts I’ll be wearing Simone Pérèle’s sheer Essentiel Shaper Short.
With this much sheerness, I love to pair it with an oversized hourglass-shaped black blazer — the Oris one from Camilla and Marc is perfect. For accessories, the CHANEL 22 mini handbag is the perfect bag with the gold detail. And for the feet, some sheer knee-high stockings to pair nicely with CELINE’s Judy double strap Mary Jane heels.
