Inside the beauty bag of makeup artist Teneille Sorgiovanni

Makeup artist Teneille Sorgiovanni is a RUSSH favourite and our go-to girl behind such shoots as The scarlet message and The girl with kaleidoscope eyes. Between painting beautiful faces for the pages of RUSSH, she lets us in on her makeup must-haves and some sage life advice for good measure.

My breakthrough career moment was ...
My first UK Vogue shoot and working with legendary photographer Nick Knight for Show Studio. Also directing my first Fashion Week presentation in London for designer Marques'Almeida.

The top five most useful products in the salon / on set are ...
Tom Ford Lip colour Fucking Fabulous ultra creamy true red, Tom Ford Intense Infusion Face oil, Tom Ford Brow sculptor, Tom Ford Eye Defining pen for classic winged eyeliner. I’m obsessed with Tom Ford Cream Colour pots for eyes in Opal and Spice.

The products most worth the investment are ...
For me I really invest in buying quality foundations, good mascaras and concealers. This is where you don’t want to compromise on quality, as it’s important to have good product for your skin. My Tom Ford go-to’s are the Extreme Mascara for full, lengthy lashes that are clump free! I also love the Tom Ford concealing pen with the sponge applicator - it's easy to apply and the conditioning ingredients make for a fresh, healthy under eye appearance.

When it comes to beauty I always ...
Focus on emphasising natural beauty within – less is more!

My favourite career memory / highlight is ...
There are so many career highlights for me but something that is ongoing that is truly inspiring is being a part of the incredible makeup teams for Fashion Week in New York, Milan, London and Paris. It’s always exciting to be a part of the teams that are creating the trends for the upcoming season.

The best advice on beauty I’ve received is …
Actually from my Mum: from a young age my sisters and I were always taught to look after our skin. The importance of washing your face correctly, which seems simple but I’m always surprised as to how many people do this incorrectly. It’s important to dampen your face first as you want to emolliate, to soften and prepare your skin to receive the product. When drying your face, never rub, always pat. Our skin is a precious organ!

The best health advice I’ve received is …
Drink herbal tea, smile lots and take time out for yourself.

The product I can’t live without is …
Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate – I love this product, it’s a staple in my makeup kit. The creamy texture of the contour and highlight blends so closely to your skin that it becomes invisible to the naked eye!

My advice to people getting started in the industry is ...
If you’re a makeup artist just starting out, try not to be consumed by what other makeup artists are doing on social media platforms. Find your own aesthetic, be confident, do what makes you happy and believe in it.
