Our favourite brands for buying size-inclusive fashion

Our favourite brands for buying size-inclusive fashion

While the fashion landscape is slowly slouching towards a more diverse and size-inclusive landscape, it's certainly still a rarity to find a brand that does the term 'inclusive' justice. The idea of a 'plus-size' body for some brands still doesn't mean what it should, and can leave some of us wondering where to shop for well-fitting, stylish garments and accessories.

Finding that effortlessly cool balance at all times is model Mia Dennis. She was our recent beauty cover star, a frequent fixture on the runways of this year's AAFW, and is a favourite of designers like Gary Bigeni. Below, we tapped Dennis to share with RUSSH some of her favourite inclusive brands, and the reasons why she loves wearing them.

1. Anna Walsh

Handmade in Australia on Ngunnawal country (ACT), this brand truly bewilders me with all that they do. All Anna Walsh pieces are made-to-order and tailor-made to your measurements… insane right?! But also, makes so much sense. We need more designers like this in the space creating clothes to fit people and not the other way around, and in the same vein, creating clothes to suit the demand, not over-producing and creating waste.

2. Gary Bigeni

I don’t even have the words to describe how special Gary is to me both as a designer and a friend. He took a chance on me at the beginning of my career in Australia and I’m absolutely in awe of everything he is doing for this industry. Gary’s current collection ‘Modern Love’ is gender-neutral and offers up to a size 22. His pieces are so vibrant, I love them!

3. Nicol and Ford

Nicol and Ford pieces make me feel regal and ethereal. I’m eternally grateful to them for giving me the opportunity to open their Sophomore show at AAFW this year. I love that their pieces are made-to-order and are constructed locally. They will forever hold a special place in my heart in the way that they encourage their community to reclaim their power through fashion.

4. Youkhana

Youkhana’s pieces are bespoke and one of one! Their pieces are all adjustable meaning they can fit a range of body types. I have been styled in their pieces in many shoots, and they've always been some of my favourite looks.

5. Ganni
