Glen Powell is joining the A24 universe in ‘How to Make a Killing’

'How To Make A Killing'

If you think you know Glen Powell, think again. The actor is shedding his charming-rom-com origins for a part that's considerably more sinister, in A24's latest project, How To Make A Killing. His co-star, Margaret Qualley, is also taking on a darker role, with the two blurring the lines of greed and morality in the gripping, newly-released trailer. Here's what you need to know.

The trailer dropped overnight and immediately caught our (and the rest of the internet's) attention. Watch it in full below:

What is How to Make a Killing about?

At the centre of the story is Powell's character, Becket Redfellow who, despite being born into money, has never actually had any.  His mother, Mary, was an estranged heir to the Redfellow empire, and she died impoverished, leaving her son with nothing but a feeling that greatness is owed to him. Then, when he reunites with his ex Julia (played by Qualley), Becket decides to take that feeling literally.

The film follows his increasingly deranged plan to correct the family tree by removing the remaining relatives who stand between him and the fortune he believes should have been his all along. Becket must also juggle his devoted girlfriend Ruth, who doesn’t care about money at all, and Julia, whose interest in him is tied directly to the size of his  bank balance. A bit of a predicament, to say the least.

Who is involved?

How to Make a Killing is directed by John Patton Ford, whose first feature Emily the Criminal became a cult favourite. On camera, Powell is joined by Qualley, Ed Harris, Jessica Henwick, Zach Woods, Topher Grace, and Raff Law.

When does it come out?

A24 will release How to Make a Killing in the U.S. on February 20, with international dates expected to follow. We'll keep you updated.
