Attico co-founder and creative director Giorgia Tordini is the kind of woman we can’t help but admire. Those clothes and that hair. Born by the Italian sea but calling NY home, here she speaks to RUSSH on career highlights, beauty essentials and where to from here.
Tell us where you grew up and where you live now …
I was born in a small town in Italy by the sea, I grew up in Milan – I moved there to study at university – and now I live in New York.
What is your career and how did you come to work in this field?
I’m the co-founder and creative director of a brand called Attico. I’ve studied fashion design and I’ve been working as a consultant for different brands for years as designer and creative on different kind of projects. But there is nothing like having your own business, it’s definitely more challenging but full of fulfilment.
What is your favourite part of your job?
The initial part of every season when I prepare the research for the next collection. It’s clothing and accessory research at flea markets and vintage stores but also imagery. I love to build up mood boards and to create different worlds.
What is the most surreal career moment you’ve ever had?
Meeting Anna Wintour and showing her the collection at such an early stage – definitely surreal.
Who do you look up to in the industry? Why?
All the brands who reached a level of establishment. That’s where I aim to get with Attico. It requires time and work but I feel we are on the right path as we are entirely dedicated to it.

What do you find most frustrating about the beauty conversation?
How narrow the cultural definition of beauty has become based on what we see in advertising or trends that everyone is following without going deeper and understanding the benefits of it but staying on the surface. We should be more true to ourselves and listen to our bodies’ needs.

Achieve a goal, whatever it is.
