The Christmas Day weather forecast for your city is here

christmas day weather forecast

Ah, Australia. While much of the Northern Hemisphere rugs up in scarves and coats for a crisp, wintery Christmas, we’re more accustomed to sun-soaked celebrations — think spontaneous swims, fresh prawns, and champagne in place of turkey and mulled wine. It’s part of what makes a Southern Hemisphere Christmas so uniquely Australian: beach trips, backyard barbecues, and the inevitable challenge of keeping the pavlova from melting in the midday sun.

But even in our warmer climes, Christmas weather is never a guarantee. Summer storms can roll in unexpectedly, hot northerly winds can make even a shaded backyard feel like an oven, and the sticky humidity of December can put a dampener (pun very much intended) on outdoor festivities. With the big day creeping closer for 2025, it’s only natural that Aussies are starting to ask: what will the weather be like this year?

Luckily, early forecasts are now in, giving us a clearer picture of what to expect across the country. While some regions may need to keep an eye on the chance of storms brief showers, it’s shaping up to be a mostly calm and clear day for 2025. Whether you’re planning a beach barbecue, a backyard feast, or simply want to know how your outfit will fare, knowing what the skies have in store helps. Read on to see how your city will fare with each Christmas Day weather forecast below — and start picturing your ideal festive day under the Australian sun.
