There is a sense of closeness in Cass Bird’s film and photography work. A pared-back intimacy akin to those moments spent in bed with the ones you love. From behind the lens, Bird closes the gap between herself and her subjects and in doing so, extracts playful grins, goofy poses, and unbound sensuality immortalised within delicately candid captures. Whether she’s stealing moments with her family or turning the lens on the fashion world, Bird’s singular style remains firmly intact, and her latest solo exhibition, In Bed, stands testament to this. In Bed will be on display at Red Hook Labs, Brooklyn, from September 13 - 24.
