Bottega Veneta is making the everyday monumental for FW24

Bottega Veneta Fall Winter 2024

More than ever, everyone wants something wearable, clothes that can function in the bustle of daily life. But what does this mean through a high fashion lens? Matthieu Blazy provides an answer with Bottega Veneta's Fall Winter 2024 collection.

The clothes

While functionality and pragmatism was on his mind, Blazy was never going to send athleisure down the runway. The collection strayed away from decoration and embellishment, yet it wasn't austere, opting to charm the everyday with outsized shapes and sumptuous textures. These are clothes you could wear to the office, to the grocery store, down the street, but there is nothing humdrum about them.

It's about making the everyday monumental, without too much overt glitz. One particularly memorable moment was the collar on a knit sweater, which looked as though someone had cut a V-shape out of the neckline to reveal its double lining. Other notable favourites: a stone suede trench and a hulking patchwork fur coat.

The set

As if to provide further proof of the sudden country boom (looking at you Beyoncé and Pharrell's wild west vision for Louis Vuitton), Matthieu Blazy welcomed guests into a space filled with glowing cacti, wooden boxes for seats and warm, diffused lighting.

Who walked?

Modelling the collection were some of our most beloved faces. Think Liu Wen, Sun Mizrahi, Diane Chiu, Imaan Hammam, Ali Dansky, Penelope Ternes and Sunira Da Silva.

Who attended?

Sitting in the front row were all the usual suspects. There was Kate Moss, A$AP Rocky and his close friend, designer Raf Simons, next to the musician sat Salma Hayek, and down the line DJ Peggy Gou and actress Julianne Moore were also present.
