As the winds start to pick up and the air starts to cool down, we feel a change in the air and start to begin our own internal transitions. With autumn finally upon us, we start to pack away the memories of summer and roll out our layers, coats and favourite sweaters. Just in time for the months reserved for introspection and hibernation, we share with you our favourite boots to warm the cooler months we have ahead.
Classic Knee High Boot
Clockwise from bottom left: Loeffler Randall boot; APC boot; Maryam Nassir Zadeh boot; Maryam Nassir Zadeh boot; Celine boot.
A classic staple for any season - all you need to do is pick your colour. Low heel or mid heel, calf skin or faux leather - the classic knee high boot is the perfect layer.
The Riding Boot
Originally designed for equestrians and horse back riding, my favourite boot would have to be the riding boot. Always up to the knee with a minimal heel and a sturdy toe - the lace up York and Derby boot by New York label KHAITE is a beautiful choice for this season among the classic Ann Demeulemeester riding boot and the Lug Sole Tall boot by Proenza Schouler.
The Western Boot
Cowboy boots and western accents are back. Any boot with a hint of western detailing seems to be sticking around for this season and if you're not bold enough to go gold, the Millicent boot by R.M Williams with a beautiful white top stitch and the perfect pointed toe is the way to go.
The Ankle Boot
Clockwise from bottom left: KHAITE boot; Acne Studios boot; Bally boot; KHAITE boot; Saint Laurent boot; Saint Laurent boot.
Most of us don't want to go that high - knee high or thigh high - we have the old faithful ankle boot. A black always remains a timeless staple, however Acne Studios have a beautiful square toe and block heel boot in blue calf, and if you prefer a slimmer streamlined feel - the Jane Booties in Pearl by Saint Laurent.
