And the Oscar goes to: our 2020 Academy Awards predictions

The RUSSH office’s anticipation for the 2020 Academy Awards could best be demonstrated by way of someone coming into the office on Monday morning and letting everyone know which nominated film they watched on the weekend, before commencing a 15-minute debrief including all of our individual reviews. Some would call this procrastination, we call it rigorous research.

In an effort to extend the prediction fun to our readers we’ve compiled a list of our desired Academy Awards winners below.

Best picture
My actual favourite is Little Women, but I feel this will go to Joker or Parasite.

Actor in leading role
Adam Driver was great in Marriage Story, however I feel he will lose to Joaquin Phoenix.

Actress in leading role
You can’t ignore Scarlett Johansson’s performance in Marriage Story.

Actor in supporting role
Brad Pitt, because he’s already on a winning streak anyway?

Actress in supporting role
Laura Dern is a winner always.

Cinematography
The cinematography in Joker was nothing short of incredible, which is why it’s my pick. However I feel it might lose to 1917.

Directing
This is hard, but I’m going with Quentin Tarantino even though he won’t get it.
