AAFW 2021 Day Four: The Innovators revealed the future faces of fashion in Australia

We're off for day four. Are you tired yet? Neither are we.

The day started off with the FDS TAFE showcase which is always a forecast for the next big names in fashion. Then we headed off to Rumer, a new brand from Nikita Sernack. This AAFW show was the brand's official debut. Of course, then we headed over to Icebergs for Non+.

Here's everything from day four of AAFW 2021 as it happens.

9am: The Innovators: FDS TAFE

For us at RUSSH, this show is always a highlight. Fashion Design Studio TAFE is known for being a hub of the next big talents in fashion. Each year the top graduating students present at this group showcase. Remember the names Alexander Lyon, Alexandra Dowsing, Charles Kennedy, Thomas Anderson and Thomas Zilioli because you'll be hearing exciting things from them in years to come.

10:30am: Rumer

Created by Nikita Sernack, who is also the creative vision behind brand Nookie, AAFW 2021 marks the official debut of Rumer. Rumer is earthy, minimal and clean, a collection of elevated basics that can sustain your closet for years to come. With hair and makeup looks from Jon Pulitano, Hair Director for O&M Original Mineral and Lara Srokowski, Makeup Director for Lancôme, it was a breezy way to warm up for day four.

12pm: Non+

A collaboration between Gareht Moody of Ksubi and Non-Type and Maurice Terzini of Bondi Icebergs and Ten Pieces - of course NonPlus was one of the most hyped shows on the schedule. A collection of gender-neutral staple pieces show on makeup-less models with skincare from iSClinical - shown at Icebergs of course - this was not your typical fashion show for all the right reasons.

1:30pm: Indigenous Fashion Projects

A group showcase created by the Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair, this presentation included: MAARA Collective, by Julie Shaw; Native Swimwear Australia, by Natalie Cunningham; Ngali, by Denni Francisco; Liandra Swim, by Liandra Gaykamangu; Indii Swimwear, by Nancy Pattison and Kirrikin, by Amanda Healy. It was evidence of the true scope of fashion and design talent in Australia, talent that celebrates the rich history of Australia hosted proudly on Gadigal Land.

2:30pm: Iordanes Spyridon Gogos

Never afraid of colour, Iordanes Spyridon Gogos knows how to wow. Expert construction met true creativity in what was certainly one of the most dynamic and exciting shows we've seen all week.

3:30pm: INJURY

This gender-neutral fashion brand made official fashion week history by hosting Australia’s first ever 100% CGI showcase. It was a see now, buy now presentation with the looks available almost instantaneously. Afterpay Australian Fashion week is serving up some innovative firsts, that's for sure.

4:30pm: Auteur

An intimate moment at Mimi's in Coogee. Guests were wined and dined as the models strutted through the tables in an elegant, yet striking resort collection from Auteur. Expect to see these pieces on every editor and tastemaker very soon.

6pm: Aqua Blu

A print heavy swimwear showcase, Aqua Blu had us longing for warmer weather. Setting the scene of a tropical island, this bright show was the perfect end of day pick me up.

7:30pm: Manning Cartell

What a show! This one was split industry and consumer and Manning Cartell was certainly out to impress. The model line-up included names like Bambi Northwood-Blyth, Montana Cox, Cameron Stephens and Shimma Marie. Then there was the surprise performance by Delta Goodrem, just casually. True to form, Manning Cartell showed us a diverse, sexy but clean cut collection inspired by the idea of day, afternoon and evening wear. The beauty looks were skincare focused, with glassy complexions courtesy of Hunter Lab.
