August has us recalibrating our spaces – small upgrades, long-considered investments, and a few beautiful things that speak for themselves. It’s a month for layering textures, replacing the worn with the well-made, and lighting candles just because. These are the homewares on our radar this month.

I have so many new home pieces on my list at the minute. I’m looking at buying a new sofa. My current one has had a faithful eight-year life, but it’s time to update. I was originally looking at the Koala Bangalow sofa. Koala has excellent sustainability credentials. But I think we’ve decided to get one of the custom made sofas from Crafted. We love the deep olive green colour. Bed Threads’ new organic cotton range has made me realise I need a set in the chocolate brown. I finally pulled the trigger on a new dinner set, this Robert Gordon set. It was between these and the plates from Our Place. I’ve lit this Glasshouse candle just about every night since I got it. It’s the cosiest, rainy day candle. Finally, we’re updating all our internal door handles. We put a brushed brass ABI Interiors handle on the bathroom and laundry when we renovated, and we’re finally doing all the other internal handles to match.

I am about to undertake some DIY and rip out some old built-in drawers in my bedroom. I want to replace them as I need the storage, and love this dark oak chest from RJ Living. It’s warm, functional and fits the space.
I’m finally about to start my kitchen renovation as well, so naturally have been thinking about replacing all my cutlery, specifically the Lucido set from Royal Doulton. I love the curves — a forever investment. I also love clean, classic glassware — the Elegance collection by Waterford is on my wishlist. I love the coupes and large red size.
I’ve also been spending a lot of time looking on Etsy at vintage jewellery boxes, but noticed these velvet ones by Sophie Bille Brahe — how beautiful is the green? Finally, I don’t believe in Labubu’s but would absolutely buy this Toteme leather jewellery case (I think it would look equally chic on a dresser as it would for travel).

There’s nothing I love more than soft fresh linens at home, and the new Hommey Oasis collection is my latest obsession. The blackberry and horizon colourways are especially chic. There’s still not a day that goes by that I’m not tempted to march myself into Mecca to pick up a TSU LANGE YOR Sassafras candle (it smells like a sexy, leathery camp fire in the best way). And to light it with? Ideally, the Camilla And Marc Silver Lighter. My adoration for Service Projects only grows with my collection – and recently I’ve added the Olive Bowl to it. I’m still eying off The Ice Cream Cup though …

My wishlist this month leans practical. First and foremost, I’m in dire need of a new vacuum cleaner, and the idea of something I can set and forget, like the Roborock Saros 10, is very appealing. It’s also compact, which is great for smaller spaces (like my apartment).
I recently got a glimpse of the Double rugs in the flesh, and I have been thinking about them a lot since. I think a great rug does so much to warm up a space, and I love the idea of something you can wash, and don’t have to be too precious about. I’m a big fan of the Heavy Loop Pile style, which is made from New Zealand wool.
Lastly, I’m on a mission to make my bathroom a little chicer, and at the top of my list is some shower upgrades — namely, this Nécessaire body wash. If you know me, you know I love a bath sheet over a towel, and I’m particularly obsessed with this reversible colourway by Baina. And finally, after reading this piece about the benefits of showering in the dark, I’m replenishing my candle collection for the ultimate relaxation experience. My favourite scent is this one by Maison Louis Marie.

Like the rest of the team, I’m leaning into home scents this month. I recently got my hands on Noosa Basics’ Rose Geranium & Frankincense hand and body wash, which has quickly become a daily indulgence, alongside the WAVE Candle from Fazeek in Kakadu Plum + Bush Cucumber. It's distinctly Australian without tipping into cliché.
Beyond scent, I’ve got my eye on LO&CO’s Outline_C Handles in Tumbled Brass to give a TV unit I bought a second life. Staying in the living room, the Air Table from Jigsaw House sits in my dream living area– a perfect balance of form and function.
I had to give a shoutout to my yellow KitchenAid (a 30th birthday gift), which has already earned its keep – most recently turning out a lemon meringue pie cake that disappeared within hours. And lastly, some fresh Jude Organic Cotton Sunday Stripe sheets from Sheet Society will soon be my excuse to stay in bed a little longer.

I want to slowly come out of hibernation, and whilst I might be ready to hit the town and tear myself away from the kitchen, it’s time to start hosting again. Any of my guests know that I love both music and wonderful wine, and Ochota Barrels have combined both with their Fugazi Grenache, its elegant and punk, the perfect combination in my opinion. Naturally, the table scape must be perfect so I need some new candles, and I love the Penhaligon’s Halfeti candles for some moody ambience.
I would also love to pick up the Stainless Steel Laguiole Cutlery set. And as for the perfect hosting outfit, this has yet to be confirmed but I want to strike the balance between comfort and ceremonial effort, so I'm looking into the Emile Blouse with some casual denim. You’re invited.
