Today, IMG has announced the newest faces to watch in fashion.

Introducing the winners of Next Gen, Afterpay Australian Fashion Week’s (AAFW) emerging designer program, presented by DHL. They are designers: Aaizél, Erik-Yvon, Outfaced and Replica Project.

Aaizél by designer Minhee Jo has a unique approach. Jo's fashion converges the influences of European Art and traditional East Asian clothing construction in an elegant pastiche of structure and undone styling.

Erik Yvon's eponymous label, Erik-Yvon is a Melbourne-based brand that creates men’s and women’s wear. Yvon takes inspiration from his Mauritian heritage to design his dynamic and graphic pieces.

Outfaced is created by Megan Taylor - a recent graduate from Whitehouse Institute of Design. Outfaced is joyous and whimsical, a label that uses prints and unexpected shapes to tell a story.

Amanda Nichols is the designer behind Replica Project. Nichols cut her teeth as a costume cutter and maker with film credits including Baz Luhrmann’s Australia and The Great Gatsby. Her couture technique and her experience in corsetry have informed her approach to structure and style.

All four talented designers will present collections at the Next Gen showcase at AAFW - which takes place from May 31 until June 4 2021. The Next Gen show will happen on Tuesday, June 1 at 2pm.

The Next Gen showcase has been a launchpad for some of Australia's most acclaimed fashion talent for 25 years. It has helped discover fashion labels like Camilla and Marc, Kate Sylvester, Gorman, sass and bide and Akira to name a few.

“IMG is dedicated to supporting Australia’s emerging designers through our Next Gen program. This year’s winners showcase the innovative and creative excellence of the next generation of talent who are shaping the future of Australian fashion,” commented Natalie Xenita, Executive Director of IMG’s fashion events group, Asia-Pacific region.

Next Gen has a goal, to identify Australia's emerging talent in fashion and design. The winners selected for the Next Gen prize are given a platform to reach global audiences and invaluable industry networking. And audiences are given the opportunity to see the faces of the future of fashion.
