“Late last year my best friend and I took a road trip around California. We hired a black mustang and drove it up the coast to San Francisco via Big Sur (and past Palo Alto). In San Fran we picked up an RV and drove it down through Yosemite, into Death Valley, to Vegas and down through Joshua Tree back to L.A. We laughed and sung our way through miles and miles. I wrote loads of songs and poems and Ash took a million photographs. The visuals and feeling behind Highway Songs No.2 were born from the fun and wonder I experienced on this trip.”
Australian multi-instrumentalist, producer, singer and songwriter Jack River – aka Holly Rankin – shares snapshots from the sweet trip that inspired her debut EP, Highway Songs No.2, out October 7.
Jack River plays The Foundry, Brisbane, December 1; Hudson’s Ballroom, Sydney, December 2; Workers Club, Melbourne, December 3; Grow Your Own festival, Forster, December 23 and Falls Festival, Lorne, December 30.
