Sometimes, a city break is all it takes to make you feel brand new. And located just steps from the river in Melbourne's Southbank, Hannah St Hotel is perfect for exactly that. The space captures everything that makes Melbourne so beloved: from five distinct restaurants that each hum with a different atmosphere, to rooms equipped with Malin + Goetz amenities, plush robes, and skyline views.
For Yasmin Suteja, a weekend here becomes an exercise in slowing down and tuning into the details that often get lost in everyday life. Between early morning coffees enjoyed in an all-black outfit (her Melbourne uniform), to chicken burgers devoured in bed (wearing a robe, slippers, and complimentary red light therapy mask, of course), here's how she spends a weekend at Hannah St, weaving moments of stillness, ritual, and indulgence throughout her stay.
Did you unpack, or let the suitcase stay half-closed?
I unpacked my toiletries (essential!) and was delighted by the counter space in the bathroom for my elaborate skincare routine and CHANEL makeup bag filled to the brim with all my favourite products. I hung my Maison Essentiele Hyde Jacket on the coat hanger, and everything else stayed neatly packed in my July suitcase.

Was there a scent you wanted in the room (and did it find you)?
I noticed the diffusers in the lobby when I checked in and had to ask about them! Turns out the fragrance was specifically designed for the hotel by The Raconteur, an artisanal fragrance brand. They actually pulled references from the urban environment outside, including the smell of rubber. The room has this comforting smell, almost like fresh cut grass. So while the lobby feels very much like a night time city scent, the room feels very earthy. There's something about being wrapped in that earthy warmth while looking out at the cityscape that feels extra cosy.

Where in the room, or what part of the resort, did you spend the longest?
I spent a lot of time at Coupette actually! We had dinner on our first night when we checked in, then had breakfast both mornings. We love Hannah St Coffee.

What became your uniform here?
A slinky all-black outfit (very Melbourne) with my favourite Anine Bing cowboy boots that make this distinctive clack when I walk and make me feel like a very fabulous creative director travelling for work. Also my vintage CHANEL slingbacks that I got from EVOIIA suited the hotel decor very well. You'll see them feature in my polaroid snaps.

Was there an object in the room that felt like it was waiting for you?
The cerulean blue chair in the corner. It immediately caught my eye and is where we snapped the polaroid of my NAGNATA one piece post-pilates.

What made it into your bag that didn't arrive with you?
The bathrobe!!!! It's the perfect colour, softness, warmth and thickness. I haven't stopped wearing it since I got home.

What was the last photo you snapped before leaving?
A polaroid of me in front of the green tiles at the pool shower! We discovered this level just before checkout.
How do you take your coffee when it's the last one?
A cheeky cappuccino. Little treat, a sweet dessert.

Was there a dish, drink, or treat you kept going back for while you were there?
I'll be going back for a spritz of the Raconteur Killr Vanilla sample at reception. Did this every morning.
Did you have a favourite meal or snack during your stay?
The chicken burger we ordered for in room dining. Eating this in my robe and slippers with a movie playing on the telly was bliss.

What's a moment from your stay that will stay with you after checkout?
I loved the person I was over these two nights. Carefree, joyful, grateful for who I am and how far I've come. To be able to experience things like this and share them with others is such a blessing. I love Melbourne, it's my new home, and feeling like a tourist in your own city is so exciting.
