Meet Sarah Pidgeon, the actress taking on Carolyn Bessette Kennedy

There's no denying we're in the midst of a renewed obsession with Carolyn Bessette Kennedy. The fashion, her unfussy blonde locks, her husband... it's all back in the cultural zeitgeist, thanks to Ryan Murphy's American Love Story.

But in addition to the character at the centre of it all, our fixation is shifting to the woman tasked with embodying her: Sarah Pidgeon.  The 30-year-old has confidently stepped into one of the most scrutinised roles of the decade, and in doing so, has proven herself just as compelling as the icon she portrays.

Get to know the woman of the hour, below.

She's originally from Michigan

Pidgeon might have the New-York-fashion-girl persona down pat, but she's not native to the city. She grew up in Michigan before relocating to Pittsburgh to attend the prestigious Carnegie Mellon School of Drama, graduating in 2018.

After studying, Pidgeon had small roles in productions like One Dollar (2018) and Gotham (2019). Her first breakthrough role came shortly after with Prime Video's The Wilds. It charts a group of teenage girls who find themselves on a deserted island after a plane crash, only to find it was all the result of a twisted social experiment.

You might recognise her from I Know What You Did Last Summer

In 2025, Pidgeon scored a role in the I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot as Stevie Ward. Pidgeon's casting rounded out a pretty stellar ensemble, including Tyriq Withers, Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders, and Gabbriette.

She's fast-becoming a red carpet icon

Pidgeon only made her red carpet debut on March 2 at the Actor Awards, but you wouldn't know she's new to the scene. The actress was a contender for the night's best dressed in a soft pink Balenciaga gown from Pierpaolo Piccioli’s debut Spring Summer 2026 collection.

She paired the look with natural glam by Emily Cheng, who used almost exclusively Rhode products.

She's also an accomplished singer

Yes, she really can do it all. In 2024, Pidgeon starred in the Broadway production of Stereophonic. She played the role of Diana, and earned herself a Tony Awards nomination for Best featured Actress in a Play. The production is also the most-nominated in history, and took home five Tonys in total, including Best Play.

Since her star-making turn as CBK, you might have noticed resurfaced videos of Pidgeon singing making the rounds on the internet. You can watch one for yourself, here:
