Get to know our favourite ‘Off Campus’ face, Mika Abdalla

Mika Abdalla

Off Campus has gifted us many things in the few short weeks its been on our screens. Laughter, tears, yearning... But arguably our favourite offshoot of the hit Prime series is our collective introduction to Mika Abdalla.

The 26-year-old actress has shot to fame on the series as Allie Hayes, an aspiring actress with confidence in spades, aspiring to a life far bigger than could be contained by the walls of Briar University. If you loved what you saw of Allie in season one, then you're in luck. There's plenty more where that came from in season two, with Abdalla confirmed to be taking on the focal storyline, opposite Stephen Kalyn (who plays Dean Di Laurentis).

With that news in mind, we feel there's no time like the present to get to know the woman of the hour. All your questions about Mika Abdalla, answered below.

She's a Taurus

Abdalla was born on May 13, 2000. According to our astrological understanding, that makes her stable, dependable, and grounded — much like the Bull that symbolises this sign.

You'll probably know her pre-Off Campus work

Abdalla has already got some pretty big titles to her name. She joined the industry at just six years old, but her breakthrough came in 2015, when she was cast as Mckeyla McAlister in the Netflix original series Project Mc², which ran for two seasons.

In 2022, she was recruited by Hulu to play Avery Hansen-White in Sex Appeal, a coming-of-age comedy centred on sexuality and identity.

And most recently, Abdalla has had recurring roles on both The Pitt (playing Jenna), and the Suits spin-off Suits LA (plaing Sierra Carson).

She was enrolled at UCLA – but didn't graduate

In between her busy shooting schedule, Abdalla found herself taking classes at UCLA. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, she said, “I took that as my opportunity to be a kid, just do school and be a girl in college and have fun." But she reasoned that it only lasted six months, until she realised the juggle between work and study was a little too difficult. "I was like, OK, never mind. I can’t,” she recalled.

She's engaged to Disney actor Jake Short

Sorry to anyone shipping Abdall and Kalyn. In real life, she's engaged to fellow actor Jake Short — who you might remember from his time on Disney's A.N.T. Farm.

The pair met in 2022, when they co-starred in Sex Appeal. "I came over [to his hotel room] just to say hi and we ended up talking — not about the script, just talking and getting to know each other for hours," she recalled in an episode of The American High Podcast.

Fast forward to May 2025, and Short's manager posted on Instagram sharing news of the couple's engagement. "An awesome day yesterday celebrating the next chapter for my longtime client, Jake Short and his fiance Mika Abdalla. From set to real life – watching your journey has been a joy. Here’s to forever," he wrote."
