From Sydney to ‘Adults’, Lucy Freyer is a name you’ll want to know

Australia is brimming with creative talent. And no one demonstrates it better than Lucy Freyer. The Sydney-born actress is making her mark in New York as Billie in the popular series Adults – the chaotic comedy about five friends figuring out life in their twenties – and earning a few fans along the way (the RUSSH team included).

With a Juilliard education, a string of roles across stage and screen and a dreamy wardrobe, there’s plenty to know about Freyer. So get to know our new favourite creative mind, below.

She's a Pisces

Freyer was born on 1 March, 1996, putting her firmly in the middle of this dreamy sign.

She's originally from Cremorne

Freyer attended Wenona School in North Sydney, and studied acting on the side at the Australian Theatre for Young People. But it wasn't long before her passions took her overseas, with Freyer leaving Australia for New York at just 17 in 2014. A year later, she was accepted into Juilliard – where her classmates (and friends) included Tom Blythe and Maya Hawke.

She was hustling for several years before landing Adults

Freyer graduated from drama school in 2020, but her first on-screen role didn't come until 2023 with the comedy Paint, which she starred in opposite Owen Wilson, Wendi McLendon-Covey, and Michaela Watkins. That same year, she appeared in the off-Broadway of The Wanderers, opposite Katie Holmes.

Fast-forward to early 2024, and news dropped that Freyer was part of the Adults ensemble – which was originally slated to be called Snowflakes – and is now into its second season. Speaking to The Sydney Morning Herald, she said Adults is "the first time I’ve been recognised for anything on the street. But it’s interesting because at the end of the day, the work all feels the same. But it is a leap, I guess.”

Her outfits are on point

Freyer might still be getting used to life in the public eye, but she's definitely dressing the part. Her recent sartorial hits while promoting season two of Adults include a black latex Versace dress , a dusty pink Roberto Cavalli number, a satin midi by The Attico, and a lime green dress by Jean Paul Gaultier. She's been working with stylist Britt Mccamey for the occasion, so it's not surprising every look has been so good.
