Just like his name implies, you listen, take notes, and abide by everything Law Roach says. While he might not actually be the law, he certainly is when it comes to red carpet dressing.
As an image architect and celebrity stylist, he is quite literally the man, the myth, and the legend in fashion. He has adorned creatives ranging from Céline Dion, Ariana Grande, and Hunter Schafer to, most notably, his self-described "sister," Zendaya. Roach is responsible for some of the biggest moments in red carpet history – from pulling the archival 1995 Thierry Mugler robot suit for Zendaya's Dune premiere, to styling Schafer in an unforgettable Ann Demeulemeester silver skirt and single feather top for the 2023 Vanity Fair Oscar after party.

He started his career as a vintage fashion broker
Roach was born on July 20, making him a Cancer according to the Western zodiac. Having grown up in Chicago, he originally studied psychology – a background that makes perfect sense given the incredible detail and intent behind each outfit he creates. He later moved to South Chicago to become a vintage broker, collecting and curating fashion pieces. After building a loyal following, he moved to New York and opened his vintage fashion boutique, Deliciously Vintage Harlem.
Unlike most stylists, he was never an assistant
While most stylists get their experience from interning or assisting other stylists, Roach's rise was a little less conventional. In 2011 he met Zendaya through a family friend, around the time she had landed her first role on Disney Channel's Shake It Up. After taking her on as a client, Roach promised to promote her into the levels of top fashion (a goal we'd say he's well and truly achieved). He even moved to Los Angeles to support her, Roach revealed on a YouTube podcast.

He's been a guest judge on your favourite reality fashion TV show
After ebeing dubbed the 'Most Powerful Stylist of the Year' by The Hollywood Reporter and running a now multi-million dollar business for styling – Roach has quickly became one of the most sought after guests to have on a reality fashion show. He's guest starred on just about every TV shows, including RuPaul's Drag Race, Project Runway, America's Next Top Model, RuPaul's Drag Race AllStars, and was even a permanent judge for three years on HBO Max's Legendary.
He's written a book
Published at the end of 2024, How To Build A Fashion Icon reads more as a confidence manifesto rather than a style guide – which is exactly his philosophy in styling. He discusses a lot in his book that confidence is a big theme in being successful, while also sharing his personal journey and practical excercises one can do to develop as a stylist.
He believes fashion should communicate before someone speaks
It's no secret that Roach sees fashion as a visual language – which it 100 percent is. When he styles a client, he wants their appearance to immediately convey something about who they are, what they stand for, and how they want to be perceived – long before they have even introduced themselves. One of his biggest contributions to fashion is method dressing. While he might not exactly have created it per se, he most definitely is one of the trend's founding fathers.
