Not many actresses can say their breakout role came in one of the most hotly-anticipated films of the year. Nor can they say they played opposite Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, or that they found the role via an Instagram callout. But 17-year-old Jordyn Curet is defying the laws of probability, as the breakout star of A24's The Drama. Get to know this name, because chances are, you're about to see a whole lot more of her.
She came across her role The Drama on Instagram
Yep, doomscrolling can (occasionally) pay off. Curet found an open casting call on Instagram, and within a few days, had a callback with the film's director, Kristoffer Borgli. Before long, she was flown out to Boston to meet Zendaya, and be awarded the role in person.
She's been acting since she was six
While the world might have taken notice with The Drama, Curet has actually been at this for a long time. Her credits include a starring-role in the ABC comedy Home Economics, plus a supporting role opposite Adam Driver and Scarlet Johannsen in Marriage Story, and the Disney+ reboot of Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
She's musically talented, too
If Curet's booked and busy CV wasn't enough to make you feel bad about yourself, she's also talented when it comes to music. The actress wrote and released her first song, Lift Me Up, in 2019.
She plays a young Zendaya in The Drama
If you haven't seen it (and what are you waiting for?) then don't worry, we won't spoil The Drama's major plot twist. What we will say, however, is that Curet certainly holds her own as a teenage-version of Zendaya's character, Emma.
Speaking to i-D, Curet was extremely relatable recounting exactly what the pair's first meeting was like. "When I was flown out to Boston, before I had officially gotten the part, they told me 20 minutes before I went into the A24 office that Zendaya wanted to meet me," she said. "I was super nervous because I'm a huge fan of hers, but she made me feel super comfortable, and I had a great time chatting with her!"

Curet expressed a similar sentiment on Instagram following the film's premiere. "Zendaya has been a huge role model to me growing up and I always said it was my dream to work with her one day," she wrote. "Now that dream is real and I’m freaking out but also so incredibly grateful. Truly unreal."
