We're two episodes in to The White Lotus season three, but already we're fully immersed in the luxuriously sinister shores of Thailand. And with every new instalment that unfolds each Monday, the show’s signature mix of dark humour, social critique, and shocking twists sparks a new wave of fan theories that flood the internet.
As has become custom to the franchise, it seems likely that one of the guests will be checking out of The White Lotus in a body bag, with gunshots ringing out in the first episode. Who this will be, and how they meet this end however, is yet to be revealed, and likely won't be until the final episode of the season. But that hasn't stopped us from speculating.
Below, we're diving into the most popular White Lotus season three theories so far, from the suspicious return of a familiar face, to the storylines that threaten to turn each picture perfect holiday on its head. It's time to sit back, enjoy the ride, and speculate wildly.
Warning: spoilers below.
1. The monkeys go bananas... literally
Over on X, some fans are convinced that the eery shotguns we heard ring out in episode one aren't the result of a guest on a murderous rampage, but rather a gun getting into the hands of a monkey.
Guys my crazy White Lotus theory is a monkey gets a hold of a gun and just starts shooting

It's not as out there as it seems, when you consider that series creator Mike White is notorious for red herrings. And, given we've already seen plenty of chaos unfold at The White Lotus' Thailand location, we suppose its not beyond the realm of possibility that a gun could fall into the wrong hands.
2. Portia is Laurie (Carrie Coon's) daughter
white lotus theory!!! GUYS WHAT IF CARRIE COON’s character is portia’s mom?? they told us she has a daughter and ik this sounds like a netflix theory but i think i might be onto something pic.twitter.com/OZMofk5LNj

Hear us out: Portia wouldn't be the first character from a previous season to reappear at The White Lotus. There's also been several mentions of Laurie's daughter and, we have to admit, the two bear a striking resemblance...
3. Greg is back for vengeance

In case you needed a recap, season two ended with Greg seemingly placing a target on then-partner Tanya's (Jennifer Coolidge) back. However, when Tanya became privy to the plot to murder her for her money, she shot the potential perpetrators on a yacht, before falling overboard and drowning. That means, however, that Greg (who was absent from the yacht) made it out alive... Could he be back in season three to hunt down another fortune? According to the internet, absolutely, and the woman he's after this time could be the hotel's owner, Sritala Hollinger. We'll have to wait and find out.
4. Mook is up to... something

We hate to say it, but episode two left us a little suspicious about Mook (Lisa). We witnessed first hand as fellow hotel staffer Valentin (Arnas Fedaravičiu), distracted security guard Gaitok (Tayme Thapthimthong) in order for the robbery get underway. So, could Mook somehow be caught up in the scheme? And is that what's stopping her and Gaitok from being together? So many questions...
5. Saxon's protein shake goes south
the fact that i want saxon to die so bad makes it kinda obvious he’s either going to leave unscathed, or worse, thriving#TheWhiteLotus

Episode one had an overtly sinister reference to a poisonous fruit growing at The White Lotus. When Saxon arrives at the resort, he remarks, “What am I supposed to do here all week without my phone, eat a bunch of fruit?” while picking up an exotic fruit. Hotel staff member, Pam, responds: “Well, we do have a lot of amazing fruit here. But I wouldn’t eat that. That’s the fruit of the mighty pong pong tree and the seeds of the fruit are toxic."
Unsurprisingly, Reddit users took this moment and ran with it. As one commenter put it: "I feel the fruit will play a part, but I'm leaning towards someone being poisoned via one of those nasty protein shakes Saxon's always touting."
6. Chloe is a scammer of sorts

A quick scroll through Reddit and you'll likely arrive at this theory. Viewers are convinced that it was more than coincidence at play when Chloe wound up next to Chelseas in the bar on episode one... despite there being several empty seats available. Could Chloe (and perhaps, by extension, Greg) have been involved in the robbery in episode two? And is the real reason she's seemingly set her sights on Saxon so she can swindle him too?
