New Balance x Aimé Leon Dore: The 550s get a minimalist makeover

New Balance Aimé Leon Dore 550

Sneakerheads start your engines, this is one you'll kick yourself for sleeping on. New Balance seemingly cannot get enough of New York City label Aimé Leon Dore, and have tapped the brand for a third collaboration. What silhouette is to be reimagined this time around? New Balance's cult 550 basketball style. Find all the details, below.

So what's different? The 550 sneaker will arrive in two tonal beige suede colourway, with various shades of cream and grey overlays, the latter boasting a sky blue tongue. It's definitely a more subtle approach than New Balance and Aimé Leon Dore's past collaborations which saw the 993 materialise in taupe, maroon and sky blue, and the 650 resurrected in forest green, ox-blood, black and grey.

It's simplicity means its appeal will reach further than the last (we suspect), offering up an option for those more formal occasions where a sneaker moment is still desired. Which we expect is the philosophy behind the drops nickname, "Basketball Oxfords".

Where to buy New Balance x Aimé Leon Dore 550

By now we're pretty familiar with how these things go. Meaning, the previous collaborations between Aimé Leon Dore and New Balance have sold out instantly. Even the regular New Balance 550s are hard to come by since being relaunched in 2021.

It's for this reason that Aimé Leon Dore is doling these beauties out on a raffle basis. Simply head to the Aimé Leon Dore website and register your details, including shoe size, to be considered at random. There's a limit of one pair per customer, with the sneakers retailing at a reasonable $230 AUD. Entries close for the raffle on November 2, 11:59 PM ET, so you better get your skates on!

We're crossing our fingers, toes, and all of our limbs for you. Godspeed and good luck.
