March signals the arrival of autumn in Australia, bringing cooler evenings and more comfortable days, perfect for outdoor adventures. Whether you're soaking up the last of the warmer weather or enjoying the crisp air, there's no shortage of goings on to keep you entertained. From vibrant cultural festivals to exciting food experiences, keep reading for our roundup of the top things to do across Australia in March 2025.

 

NSW

Interior stylist and design expert Kerrie-Ann Jones is hosting an exclusive Pop-Up Gallery in Bondi from 21 March to celebrate the launch of her debut coffee table book, Curated Style. The event will also feature a curated selection of furniture and contemporary art pieces, offering a unique glimpse into her creative vision.

Libertine Parfumerie is teaming up with Anita Gelato to celebrate the launch of Fugazzi at their boutique on Oxford Street. From 11am–2pm, on Saturday 1 March, visitors can indulge in six delicious ice cream flavours each paired with complimentary Fugazzi samples.

The Mov'in Bed Beach Cinema will descend on Barangaroo until 23 March. Catch classics and new releases from teh comfort of a plush queen-size bed, in front of the largest outdoor screen in Australia.

MJ The Musical is now playing at Sydney Lyric Theatre, paying homage to Michael Jackson’s unique and unparalleled artistry.

Cockatoo Island Sunset Sessions continue this month, giving you the chance to picnic in front of the picturesque Biloela House, as you bask in good food and great music.

Kylie Minogue kicks off her highly-anticipated Tension Tour at Qudos Bank Arena on 1–3 March.

Ring in the new month with the 47th annual Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade, which will  take over Oxford Street, Flinders Street and Anzac Parade on Saturday 1 March 2025.

RAFI Records bottomless lunch is returning to RAFI North Sydney from 8 March. There are two sittings on offer: The A Side (12pm onwards), which offers a relaxed weekend afternoon, and The B Side (2:30pm onwards), which sets the tone for a great Saturday night.

Neon Playground, Sydney’s largest Asian-Australian cultural arts festival returns to Haymarket from 15 March, bringing three weeks of neon light installations, live entertainment, creative and cultural events, art exhibitions, comedy and food.

From the 20 March, Chopard Afternoon Tea at The Langham Sydney will kick off for 18 days of high tea experience in celebration of the International Day of Happiness. Immerse yourself in a delicious afternoon, featuring a dazzling array of diamond-inspired delicacies, in homage to Chopard’s reowned Happy Diamonds collection.

Bydee is partnering with Harry's Bondi to give away 500 exclusive Harry’s x Bydee smoothies on Saturday 15 March. Each smoothie comes with a unique code, as Bydee will be giving away up to $20,000 worth of vouchers. More details here.

From 20 March until 5 April, between 3-7pm, Golden Hours Barangaroo, presented by Aperol Spritz, will illuminate Sydney's waterfront with three weeks of sunset sessions. The Woollahra Festival 2025 Weekend kicks off on March 28 for a weekend of celebrations. Expect live entertainment, food and drinks throughout the Queen Street village, plus late-night shopping, a literary festival, workshops, and an extensive community program. More details here.

The Soul Night Market will land in Brighton this month, bringing food and makers stalls to Melbourne's South East. Over 60 stalls and food trucks will be available on 7 March, from 5pm - 9pm.

The Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show kicks off from 26–30 March, transforming the Royal Exhibition Building and Carlton Gardens with an eruption of blooms.

The iconic Melbourne International Comedy Festival will begin on 25 March, beginning a months-long program of local and international acts.

Golden Plains is back for 2025, returning to the Supernatural Amphitheatre in Meredith from 8–10 March.

For the ultimate indulgence, head to Melbourne's Cheese & Wine Fest on 1 March. Expect masterclasses, live music and, of course, plenty of cheese and wine from this single-day event.

Lee Mathews will open the doors to its 'WR.LM CONCEPT SPACE residency at Gertrude St. Market, Fitzroy. From March 13th, the residency welcomes customers into the world of LM, celebrating the launch of new Workroom styles and ‘Dune’ colourway. 

Maison Batard will commemorate the Melbourne Grand Prix with a an exclusive Belvedere 10 + 10 Martini, featuring Belvedere 10 vodka, dry vermouth and 10G of Siberian Caviar. Guests can also venture down to Le Club,  the sophisticated late-night destination with table service, entertainment and dancing, exclusively open late on March 13 and 14.

QLD

Missing the tennis? Why not head to the Squash Australian Open, hosted in Brisbane from 11–16 March. See the world's top squash players to compete for the title of Australian Open Champion.

The Queensland Ballet will tell the story of Kenneth MacMillan’s Romeo & Juliet, with performances at the Lyric Theatre, QPAC from 21–29 March.

La Boite Theatre will stage a modern reimagining of Shakespeare's Macbeth from 13-22 March, with a production in which the Witches form the centre of the story.

 

SA

Adelaide Writers’ Week is scheduled for 1–6 March, marking Australia’s largest free literary festival. Writers and readers alike are invited to immerse themselves in the program, and hear from emerging and established authors.

Experience everything the Adelaide Hills region has to offer, with the Taste of the Hills Festival on 29–30 March. Expect the best local foods, wines, beers, ciders, spirits from the region, plus masterclasses, live performances, and even helicopter rides.

Bird in Hand has announced the second instalment of Sparkling Sounds, with a Sunset Edition at its Woodside Estate in the Adelaide Hills on 29 March. Headlined by DJ Richy Penny, expect a dedicated Spritz Station serving pink-hued Bird in Hand Sparkling spritzes and Rosé spritzes, as well as a selection of Bird in Hand still wines, beers and non-alcoholic beverages. WA

The Dunsborough Arts Festival returns for its 24th year on 1–3 March. Celebrate local art and music with concerts, performances, workshops, exhibitions, and a stunning fireworks display.

Young Franco's album launch party for It’s Franky Baby, with an event on 1 March from 3pm until 12am. In addition to Young Franco, expect performances from Kah-Lo, Osmosis Jones, Chloe Dechez, Jaida-Rose, Sinfeni, SoFemme and Timmy Drake B2B Snell.

The Darwin Comedy Festival kicks off on 6 March, marking the funniest event in the calendar this year.

Inspired by the iconic cult classic The Adventures of Priscilla: Queen of the Desert, fabALICE festival extends Mardi Gras celebrations to Alice Springs (Mparntwe) from 27–30 March. Expect an extravaganza of drag, cabaret, comedy, and community events, plus live performances, pop-up bars, street parades, and more.

 

TAS

Bass In The Domain festival, the region's premier electronic and dance music,  is returning on 15 March at the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens in Hobart.

Dover Seafest on 16 March will offer a variety of local food and drink options, entertainment from local artists and bands, free activities for the kids and a treasure trove of unique, handcrafted creations at Port Esperance Bay.

Kunanyi Mountain Run is happening from 28–30 March with seven run events through wet ferny gullies, dolerite boulder fields, eucalypt forests, or under the famous Organ Pipes.

Huon Art Awards 2025 are back on 8–23 March at the historic Cygnet Town Hall in Huon Valley. The exhibition highlights local and Tasmanian artists and students, offering a unique opportunity to admire and purchase art directly from the creators.

Bangor Music in the Vines is taking place on 29 March at the Bangor Vineyard, featuring an all-ages afternoon of live music, activities, and workshops, featuring wonderful Tasmanian artists and fabulous local food and Bangor wine.
