What the ‘RUSSH’ editors were watching, reading and listening to in March

It feels like we've blinked and somehow we've ended up at the end of March. How did we get here? Where did the last month go? How is nearly EASTER? All are questions we've been asking ourselves at RUSSH HQ this last week in between hosting a massive Gloss Gallery pop-up with Kérastase in Sydney, and power-reading our copies of Sense & Sensibility ahead of our March book club event with Coach.

In between the chaos though, we've all managed to find some time to get acquainted with our screens, book shelves and headphones. From musical mockumentaries about pop stars and rock bands, to sci-fi blockbusters and nostalgic playlists – this is exactly what the RUSSH team have been watching, reading and listening to in March 2026.

Watch… I caught The Moment at The Ritz the other week and haven’t stopped thinking about it since. I’m already counting down until I can watch it again. Truly, just j’adore Charli XCX in every possible way. I’ve also been revisiting Who Is Sabato De Sarno? A Gucci Story on MUBI, which somehow felt even better the second time around. Maybe it’s the added familiarity, or maybe it’s Paul Mescal’s narration, either way, it’s such a beautifully considered look at creative process.

Listen… Indigo De Souza has been on constant rotation lately, one of those artists that just hits no matter the mood.

Read… I’ve been reading Night People by Mark Ronson, which I’ve been really drawn into. It’s earnest in a way that feels unforced, but still deeply compelling.

Watch … I’m a bit late on the bandwagon but I just hopped on the Slow Horses train. And of course it is amazing. But, I must say my two highlights in the cinematic space are The Drama and Project Hail Mary. I got an early previewoft The Drama – and firstly, I love that A24 showed us nothing in the trailer. I’m really sick of seeing the whole movie in trailers. Anyway, the film was incredible, I haven’t seen a dark comedy like that in a long time. And Project Hail Mary is like a mix of Interstellar and Wall-E. Exceptional.

Listen … G-g-g-g-g Geese. Too good, they are. And also reminiscing on some of Yoke Lore’s old tracks. I also discovered Foxwarren, loving their music.

Read … I’m still in my classical phase, and I just started Sense and Sensibility for our book club. But I must say Wuthering Heights – I’m still in that book mentally.

Watch … I’ve finally polished off the last season of Girls, which has quickly become an all-time fave show for me. (It’s also getting me very excited for Dunham’s upcoming memoir Famesick).

Listen … The Row’s March 2026 playlist: Nina Simone, Mary Lattimore, Beth Gibbons, John Glacier…

Read … I’m obviously pouring through RUSSH’s March Book Club pick: Sense & Sensibility.

Watch… I was glued to the Womens AFC Asian Cup this month, but other than that… I saw I Swear, it’s the movie that was awarded the BAFTA for best actor. It was incredibly emotional but such a good film, I think it’s a very important one to see. My other favourite watch from this month was a Netflix movie called Nonnas. It was cheesy but absolutely the perfect thing to help you slow down after a hectic week. It’s the true story of a restaurant that hired Italian grandmothers as its chefs. It felt very nourishing for the soul. And, I went and saw The Moment too!

Read… I’m still powering through Throne of Glass. I finished Heir of Fire this month and am nearly done with Crown of Midnight, things really start to heat up from book four. Also, our RUSSH Literary Showcase is getting very close to announcing the 20 finalists. I’ve had a sneak peak of the list and have read a number of the entries. The calibre of writing this year has been mind-blowing.

Listen… I’m seeing Deftones in a few weeks so I’ve had their new album, Private Music on repeat.

Watch … I was so entertained by Alex Ross Perry’s movie Pavements, which I got around to watching recently. Part biopic parody, part musical documentary, part homage, it collages a picture of the cult band Pavement with a joyful idiosyncrasy unlike any doco I’ve ever seen.

Listen … Nostalgia has been steering my music choices lately. I’ve been returning to old favourites like Tame Impala’s Innerspeaker, The Yeah Yeah Yeah’s, Phoenix and early Silverchair. I’m also going through a frenetic podcast phase. Too many pods, not enough time! Middlebrow, Deep Read, Search Engine, Nymphet Alumni, Doomscroll and In Our Time are on my constant rotation.

Read … I just finished Deborah Levy’s The Cost Of Living and plan to read it cover-to-cover all over again on Easter weekend. I love Levy’s precise language and the balance she strikes between cynicism and optimism. I read it as a meditation on the practice of finding a place in a world of one’s choosing.

Watch … I have started Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette. I’m also searching for every which way I can watch Forbidden Fruits in Australia asap.

Listen … First by Cold War Kids, Robbers by The 1975, Sally, When The Wine Runs Out by Role Model and a heap of The Weeknd.

Read … The new RUSSH issue: 115, SUBLIME.

Watch...  I watched But I'm a Cheerleader for the first time and the only word to describe it is camp — with Rupaul as a macho straight man, what else could you call it? Will & Grace is what I watch while meal prepping my salads , as well as The Oscar’s red carpet and The Vanity Fair after party. Ziwe is one of the greatest and most ruthless interviewers of our times.  I also saw the The Normal Heart by the Sydney Theatre Company at the Opera House, which was truly beautiful.

Listen... The Little Mess You Made by The Favours I feel would make an incredible runway finale song. In my opinion the soundtrack at a runway is almost as important as the collection, as it sonically amplifies the essence of a collection and will give you goosebumps if it’s righ. One day my dream is to create soundtracks for runways even though I know nothing about music.

I've also been listening to Lady Gaga’s Joanne – one of my favourite albums by her and undoubtedly the most underrated. I saw this band called Calypso Cora two summers ago on New Year’s Eve at Woodford Folk Festival and it was one of those performances where it goes on to be a repeat in your playlist for years to come – funnily enough that happened to me when I saw Lorde at a festival when I was 10, too. Calypso Cora's self titled EP forever reminds me of the feeling of that night. I also listened to the Therapuss episode with Meg Stalter in preparation for the Oscars and I think we finally have someone who knows how to banter at Meg’s level.

Read... Of course reading the new RUSSH issue: 115, SUBLIME – and you should too.
