If it's possible, Veronika Slowikowska just got cooler. The chronically online will know that the internet-comedian-turned-SNL-star is not just smart and funny, but can sing too. She's jokingly shown off her voice in skits, and even proven her range in a slightly more serious capacity, occasionally singing live on stage in New York.
Now, it looks like Slowikowska might be using the SNL off-season to take music a little more seriously – well, sort of. She's been reposting from a second Instagram account, @measaninsta, teasing a new single. True to form, it's accompanied by some pretty left-of-centre videos. Her latest single is I Don’t Know Why I Said That
It's out now, and it's unironically really good.
Triple J Breakfast host Abby Butler put the call out to her follower on TikTok, questioning whether Me As A Girl was Slowikowska's first solo project, or whether she was the featured vocalist for an anonymous artist. Thankfully, her followers came through with the answers, with one writing, "her boyfriend @kylefornow [...] is a producer [...] and by his comments I’d assume it’s a Veronika artist project… cool hey!" They're not wrong – Kyle has been in several of the account's comment sections, writing things like, "Love this new artist!" and, "Need this on streaming." And now that the song is out, we have confirmation that Kyle is credited as the producer.

It's accompanied by a music video
Of sorts. Slowikowska has been teasing videos of herself singing the song, ranging from wearing a blue wig, stilettos and an extreme face-tuning filter, to sitting in a canoe on a lake in Muskoka. Girl has range.

It's actually not her first song
'I Don't Know Why I Said That' might be the first song that Slowikowska has publicly promoted, but Me As A Girl has been quietly releasing music for some time.
Me As a Girl’s first single, 'when you had me you ran away,' was released in November 2025, and followed by a four-song EP, 'it’s all possible' on March 30.
