The Venice Film Festival is calling our names once again, and with it, the red carpet is unfurling under the late-summer sun, ready to host another season of cinema and glamour. From now until September 7, Italy's floating city will transform into a global stage for the film industry’s most anticipated premieres – and some of its most talked-about style moments.
As the oldest film festival in the world, La Biennale di Venezia strikes a unique balance between high art and Hollywood spectacle. And this year, the red carpet is already living up to that reputation – with archival couture, custom gowns, and sharp tailoring setting the tone early on.
Now in its 82nd edition, the festival is once again bringing together seasoned directors, A-list actors, breakout stars and emerging auteurs for a program that's worth getting excited about. Luca Guadagnino returns to the Lido with After The Hunt, a tightly wound thriller starring Julia Roberts, Ayo Edebiri, Andrew Garfield and Chloë Sevigny – a cast that’s likely to deliver on-screen and on the carpet. Meanwhile, Guillermo del Toro debuts Frankenstein, a reimagining of the classic tale with Jacob Elordi as the monster, in what the director calls a more emotional, character-driven take. There's also Emma Stone in Yorgos Lanthimos' Bugonia, Sofia Coppola's Marc Jacobs documentary Marc by Sofia, and Charli XCX's film debut (alongside Emma Corrin, Maika Monroe, and Nicholas Galitzine, no less) in 100 Nights of Hero. A stacked schedule, to say the least.
So while the films are the festival’s centrepiece, fashion remains a key part of the conversation. Below, we're tracking the best look from 2025 Venice Film Festival red carpet.
