Daisy Edgar-Jones will star in the film adaptation of ‘Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow’

Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow

The era of adaptations continues, and next up one of the most beloved novels of the past few years is heading to the big screen. Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, Gabrielle Zevin’s bestselling 2022 book, is being adapted into a film — and Daisy Edgar-Jones has officially signed on to lead the project.

The actor, who knows a thing or two about a great adaptation, having risen to fame starring in the hit series Normal People, will play Sadie Green, the story's protagonist. Naturally, our main question now is who will play Sam? Everything we know, below.

Who else is involved?

While Edgar-Jones has been confirmed as Sadie Green, the roles of Sam Masur and Marx Watanabe — the other two key characters in the story — have not yet been cast.

We do, however, have some news on the behind-the-scenes team. Academy Award–winning filmmaker Siân Heder, best known for directing and writing CODA, will direct the adaptation and also pen the screenplay. The script is based on earlier drafts written by Mark Bomback and author Zevin herself.

The film will be produced by Temple Hill, the production company behind a number of successful literary adaptations. Zevin will also serve as an executive producer.

What is Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow about?

The story follows Sadie Green and Sam Masur, two friends whose lives intersect in childhood before reconnecting years later in college. United by a shared love of video games, the pair go on to become creative partners and build a successful video game studio together.

Spanning several decades, the novel explores their complicated friendship alongside their collaborator Marx Watanabe as they navigate creative ambition, love, success and loss.

The book has sold more than four million copies worldwide and has been translated into dozens of languages, becoming one of the most widely discussed novels of recent years. Needless to say, there's an appetite for the film.

When will the film be released?

A release date for the film has not yet been announced, and the project is still in early development. With key roles still to be cast and production timelines yet to be confirmed, it may be some time before the film reaches cinemas.

In the meantime, Edgar-Jones remains one of the most in-demand actors of the moment, and there's plenty to catch her in in the meantime. She is set to appear star a new adaptation of Sense and Sensibility, as well as the Netflix film Here Comes the Flood alongside Denzel Washington and Robert Pattinson. Watch this space.
