Some clothes make you wish you had somewhere to wear them. Tod's Spring Summer 2027 collection makes you reconsider how you’re dressing for the plans you already have. This season, the House found inspiration in the Italian ability to make something beautiful out of everyday life. And in staying true to the House's roots, leather work was involved.

Presented at Milan’s PAC contemporary art museum, the collection were clothes for those who enjoy the finer details. A supple leather jacket, a considered stitch, a familiar loafer re-done. Tod’s calls its approach ‘Artisanal Intelligence’ – the knowledge of the artisans who turn exceptional materials into things we actually want to wear.

The trench coat was front of stage, appearing in pierced leather, suede and windsilk. Cropped versions offered a new sense of familiar style, bringing lightness to a wardrobe staple usually known for less agreeable weather. There’s something about a trench that feels as considered for the sunnier days as it does for the rainier ones. And in true Tod's style leather did much of the talking, with pashmy, the house’s signature soft leather, displaying the collection’s more tactile pleasures, while biker jackets in soft calfskin and precious leathers brought a harder edge. Natural shades and burnt tones grounded the colour palette, offset by darker yellows, red and blue for a little freshness.

Tod's knows the value of a good loafer, and this season, the Gommino’s signature pebble code went beyond footwear and into bags. Elsewhere, a sneaker-ballerina shape offered a more feminine-sporty design. The bags allowed for a little play this season too. In particular, returning from the archives, the Candy Bag took a sweet-inspired shape.

Ultimately, the appeal of Tod’s has always been in how easily craftsmanship finds its way into daily life and extends itself as a staple for years to come. In this collection, that message found expression in leather pieces you want to touch, shoes you can imagine wearing on daily basis and a trench worth taking out even when it isn't so gloomy.
