Does Australia finally have a TikTok Creator Fund? An investigation

tiktok creator fund

For years, Australian TikTok creators have watched from the sidelines as their peers in the US and UK cashed in on TikTok’s Creator Fund, transforming likes into livelihood and virality into viable income. Despite the app’s massive popularity down under, a localised payout model has remained conspicuously absent. But something seems to be shifting.

A handful of Aussie TikTokers are now reporting unexpected earnings, mysterious dashboard updates, and whispers of monetisation tools once thought exclusive to the Northern Hemisphere. So, has TikTok quietly launched a creator fund in Australia? Or is the algorithm playing tricks on us? Let’s investigate.

Why do people think the TikTok Creator Fund has come to Australia?

The rumours originated on TikTok, naturally. One user, @brodysartprints, took to the app on 29 May, posing the question to his followers: "Did Australia randomly get the Creator Fund? Because why did TikTok randomly send me $600 this week?"

The comment section on Brody's video has since been flooded. While some users claim there's no way the Creator Fund has finally made it's way Down Under, according to others, they've experienced something similar. One user commented, "Yes, it's available to a select few." while another chimed in, "I just had a random payment too." A third user claimed that when they downloaded TikTok Studio (a secondary app designed for content management), they received a notice about the Creator Fund.

What is the TikTok Creator Fund?

Launched in 2020, the TikTok Creator Fund is the platform’s in-house monetisation model, designed to reward creators for the content they share. Rather than relying solely on brand deals or sponsored content, eligible users can earn money directly from TikTok based on video views, engagement, and adherence to community guidelines. While the payouts are often modest, it marked a major shift in how creators could be compensated for their work. The fund has been rolled out in several key regions, including the US, UK, and parts of Europe.

How much can you earn on the TikTok Creator Fund?

Exactly how much you can earn is something of a grey area. Earnings reportedly range from $0.02 to $0.04 per 1,000 views, which translates to approximately $20 to $40 for every 1 million views.

So, is Australia really getting the TikTok Creator Fund?

At this stage, nothing is concrete. A quick search on the app reveals that, while others have claimed over the years to have insider intel that the Creator Fund is coming to Australia, so far, none of these rumours have materialised. Could Brody be onto something? We'll just have to wait and see.
