Gird your loins: ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ just cast so many new actors

It's time to pull out your cerulean sweaters... 'The Devil Wears Prada' is returning for a sequel

Miranda is back in the building. I repeat, Miranda Priestly is (nearly) back on our screens.

Word on the street has been percolating, and now we can confirm the good news. The hit film The Devil Wears Prada (already reincarnated as a hit Broadway musical)will indeed continue in sequel form, with filming officially underway. Even better, we now know for certain that the OG lead cast — Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Anne Hathaway, and Stanley Tucci — are confirmed to return. But that's not all: new cast members have been announced, giving the world of Runway a refreshed (and possibly rivalrous) energy.

Time to knuckle down on the difference between cerulean and azure, make sure the steak is warmed up, and get ready to muscle your way into the job a million girls would kill for. Below, everything worth knowing about the Devil Wears Prada sequel.

Who will star in the sequel?

The original dream team is back — and they're not alone. Meryl Streep (Miranda Priestly), Emily Blunt (Emily Charlton), Anne Hathaway (Andy Sachs), and Stanley Tucci (Nigel) will all reprise their iconic roles.

But here’s where it gets exciting: Simone Ashley, Pauline Chalamet, BJ Novak, Lucy Liu, Caleb Heron, and Justin Theroux have also officially joined the lineup. While their roles are still under wraps, sources suggest they’ll bring a fresh dynamic to the sequel’s plot, likely shaking up the power structure in Miranda and Emily’s high-fashion orbit.

We also now know that Tracie Thoms, who played Andy's friend Lily, and Tibor Feldman, who portrayed Irv Ravitz, the chairman of Runway’s parent company Elias-Clark, will reprise their roles in the sequel.

Style icon Anne Hathaway's involvement has been shrouded in mystery until recently, with the actress officially set to return as Andy Sachs. How her character has evolved from aspiring journalist in the last decade, however, remains to be seen.

It's a welcome surprise, with Hathaway telling E! back in March 2024, I don’t think a continuation of that story is probably ever gonna happen.”

She continued, “The truth of the matter is—with any film—all we can do is make it. The reason that movie felt so special was that we were a team and we did that work, but really it’s the love that everybody pours to it.” We'll let you know as soon as she's plucked her phone from the fountain to take a call.

As for Stanley Tucci, he's also reprising his role as the witty and wise Nigel. He kept tight-lipped on exactly what this would look like when speaking to Variety: “I know they’re working on it. If it happens, I would be so happy, but I cannot give you any information. Otherwise, I’ll go to the actor’s prison or something. [The original] was one of the best experiences ever.

When will The Devil Wears Prada sequel be released?

Get ready to live out your magazine fantasies, because the film is just around the corner. The official release date is May 1, 2026 – just under a year away.

What is The Devil Wears Prada sequel going to be about?

Runway Magazine is no longer. At least, that's what we know. In the face of traditional media decline (tell us about it...), the sequel is set to follow Priestly as she clamours her way back to the top, now positioned against Emily, who has become a marketing maven with a surplus of advertising dollar to spend.

Who will be be producing the sequel?

Aline Brosh Mckenna is in charge of the follow-up script, and the film will likely be produced by Oscar-winning producer Wendy Finerman. There's also snuffed whispers that Patricia Field is also returning as costume designer for the sequel, which is the most jubilant news of all. We'll keep you updated.
