Teyana Taylor is not one to be confined to a single discipline. Now, the singer, dancer and actress is adding director to her repertoire, making her feature directorial debut with Get Lite.
Set amongst the streets and subways of New York City, the film follows a talented dancer whose life changes when he discovers the city’s Litefeet scene. The high-energy dance style originated in Harlem, Taylor’s hometown, making the project a particularly fitting feature for her first outing as a director.
Here's everything to know about Get Lite.
Who is involved in Get Lite?
Unsurprisingly, Taylor has assembled an impressive cast for her first feature behind the camera. The Last of Us and Euphoria star Storm Reid is on board to lead, alongside Ceyair Wright. Reid will also produce the film.
They’re joined by Tony winner and Oscar nominee Leslie Odom, Jr., Oscar nominee Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Woody McClain, hip-hop artist Khayr Bullock and Twitch streamer Tylil James. According to the latest from Variety, Jodie Turner-Smith and Asante Blackk are also in negotiations to join the cast.
Behind the camera, Taylor is set to direct from a screenplay by Maurice Williams. Taylor is also producing alongside Courtney Gilbert under their production banner, The Aunties.
What is Get Lite about?

The film takes its name from Litefeet, a high-energy dance style that emerged from Harlem in the early 2000s, and is known for its quick, expressive movements.
When does Get Lite come out?
Production on Get Lite is set to begin in New York City in September 2026. The film is scheduled for release in theatres on August 20, 2027. Mark your calendars now.
