La Colombe d’Or, Saint Paul de Vence, France

In 1920 a small restaurant and guesthouse were established by a local Provençal farmer, Paul Roux, in the picturesque medieval town of Saint Paul de Vence, Provence. The South of France was a popular destination for artists at the time, who regularly visited La Colombe d’Or, and often used their creations as currency.
