Light this fuse: meet the creative minds rewriting the rules of their craft

Light this fuse: meet the creative minds rewriting the rules of their craft

Every creative shift starts with a spark. A flicker of restlessness, an urge to reimagine what’s possible. In this series, we meet six new creative minds who are lighting their own fuses – pulling from memory, fantasy, instinct, and rebellion to reshape the industries they’ve stepped into. They’re not here to follow blueprints; they’re here to redraw them entirely.

This is a celebration of those working off-script. Stylists, artists, image-makers, designers – all united by a shared refusal to play it safe. They move through fashion and art like it’s an open field, not a system, and they carry the kind of conviction that rewires what we think we know about creativity.

To meet them is to witness a kind of momentum. One that doesn’t ask for permission, one that reshapes the conversation by simply being in the room. They’re not just emerging — they’re erupting. And they’re taking the old rulebook with them.

Welcome to the fuse-lighting, boundary-blurring, future-shaping space of now. You’ll want to remember their names.

Lynn Mathuthu

Talent’s own clothing and jewellery; VANS sneakers.

My name is ...  Lynn Mathuthu.

My pronouns are ... He/Him.

My occupation is ...  Stylist.

One item I never leave the house without ... My headphones.

Right now, my creative muse is ... Austin Feng, a super talented stylist and fashion director. His work is so inspiring and reminds me why I love this industry so much.

My biggest priority when getting dressed each day is ... Will I look like a Jenna Lyons and Olsen twin hybrid.

A project I can't wait to bring to life is ... The 2026 SPEED runway show.

The one I'm most proud of so far is ... My fashion film called I love Sydney (coming soon).

My name is ... Mia Kidis.

My pronouns are ... She/Her.

My occupation is ...  Artist.

One item I never leave the house without ... My keys?

Right now, my creative muse is ... Jan Bose Casson for style, Dina El-kaddoumi as my scream queen, Jack Mannix as himself, then Phoebe Martin and Sly Morikawa; my lifelong video chicks.

My biggest priority when getting dressed each day is ... I have no priorities. It’s just whatever I’m feeling… Lame but true.

A project I can't wait to bring to life is ... To be sponsored by Polaroid and walk around the world like Araki.

The one I'm most proud of so far is ... The Jean Paul Gaultier campaign with the goats... Thank you to Omahyra Moto, Sharna Osbourne, Georgia Pendlebury and Florence Tetier for taking a chance on me.

Honor Munro

Talent’s own clothing and jewellery.

My name is ...  Honor Munro.

My pronouns are ... She/Her.

My occupation is ... Creative Producer and Casting Director.

Right now, my creative muse is ... The divine feminine in all her forms! Soft, intuitive, chaotic, grounding. Feminine energy shows up in patterns, gut instinct, and a kind of beauty that doesn’t demand attention.

My biggest priority when getting dressed each day is ... Feeling like myself and aligning with the role I need to inhabit. Whether I’m leading a team, meeting clients, or working behind the scenes, what I wear helps shift my mindset. My days are never the same, and getting dressed is often my way of stepping into the version of me the day requires, sometimes protective, sometimes assertive, sometimes completely laid-back.

A project I can't wait to bring to life is ... Something quietly exciting we’ve been building at Mimi Casting, co-created with Imogen Wilson. A space for talent that doesn’t play by the old rules. A resource, a network, something fluid that adapts with the people inside it. It’s still evolving, but I believe it has the potential to change how talent, on and off camera, is engaged and respected.

The one I'm most proud of so far is ... The Ramp Tramp Tramp Stamp runway show I’m Not Not Ready in February last year – my first time leading production on a runway, with STUDIO MIMI.

My name is ...  Ethan Bergersen.

My pronouns are ... He/Him.

One item I never leave the house without ... My jewellery. Even when running to the shops in the simplest of outfits, I love taking a few seconds to pick out some jewellery pieces.

Right now, my creative muse is ... British singer FKA Twigs is a constant source of inspiration for me. The visuals from her recent album EUSEXUA are particularly exciting, as she uses clothing and movement to reform the human body, becoming almost alien.

My biggest priority when getting dressed each day is ... Combining comfort with personal expression. As someone who spends most days on their feet, I need to be comfortable to make it through the day. Hence most of my wardrobe is oversized basics with high quality fabrications.

A project I can't wait to bring to life is ... I am currently working on my 2025 collection that features more wearable takes of my previous work, while staying true to my ethics and aesthetic. The collection will feature jersey and tailored pieces adorned with gemstone accessories.

The one I'm most proud of so far is ... My 2024 collection entitled ECDYSIS that I created for final year of fashion school. The six-look collection is made from Australian wool, recycled plastic and yarn, as well as semi-precious gemstones. My pride for this collection comes from my success in using recycled and sustainable materials to create luxury fashion pieces. Including developing my own technique of creating ethical faux leather from recycled plastic, wool and natural plant dyes.

My name is ... Anne Thu Pham.

A project I can't wait to bring to life is ... A very exciting project with a Sydney-based performance artist whose work deeply resonates with me and moved me in an unexplainable way.

Right now, my creative muse is ... 90s runway videos.

My biggest priority when getting dressed each day is ... Feeling comfortable enough to be able to do spontaneous things.

A project I can't wait to bring to life is ... A hair exhibition. It was the main goal that got me into doing hair art, that is, before I got swallowed into fashion – which I adore. But, I'd love to bring my concepts to life and take them in as an intentional body of work.

The one I'm most proud of so far is ... GLO's CoolPrettyCool feature. It was the first time that I truly felt in control of my path with being multifaceted.
