Last night, Chinese Laundry in Sydney’s CBD transformed into the PUMAverse – a multisensory playground hosted by global footwear powerhouse PUMA. More than 150 friends of the brand spilled into the space: models, musicians, athletes and RUSSH purists, all gathered to explore the evolving universe of three PUMA icons: the Mostro, Speedcat, and Speedcat Ballet.

The night unfolded through three distinct rooms, each paying homage to a silhouette that’s helped define modern streetwear. First up was the world of the Mostro – named after the Italian word for ‘monster’ – a shoe that’s long been a symbol for those unafraid to challenge the norm. Amid raw textures and striking visuals, designed to echo the shoe's iconic avant garde spiked soles, attendees interacted with the Mostro’s story of rebellion and reinvention, styling it their own way and bringing deconstructed tailoring, motocross leather, and Y2K minimalism into the fold.

Next came the Speedcat, the sneaker silhouette that's fast becoming one of the most coveted in the fashion world. This room was alive with adrenaline, thanks to the pulsing beats of DJs Obeido, Tisha and Lustwell. Originally built for the racetrack, the Speedcat has become a mainstay in fashion capitals, its sleek profile and motorsport DNA lending itself to both speed and subtlety. Guests paired theirs with oversized denim, archival sportswear, and feminine skirts – a nod to the silhouette’s fluid presence across style codes.

The mood shifted subtly as guests entered the Speedcat Ballet room – a softer, more refined take on the classic. Reimagined with a feminine edge, the Speedcat Ballet was a moment of calm in the PUMAverse. With sleek lines and svelt materials, it grounded the evening with a sense of ease.

Throughout the evening, PUMA invited guests to style their shoes in their own way, with local artists on hand to personalise pairs, lending an added layer of meaning to each step taken. PUMA-branded fries were served hot, cocktails flowed, and conversation among the crowd — including Keiynan Lonsdale, Lara D, Charley Sux and Aroha Atkinson — moved just as easily between sneaker culture and next-season silhouettes.
