Stay freaky – Romance Was Born collaborates with Carla Uriarte

Romance Was Born

Australian fashion designer Romance Was Born has collaborated with artist and writer Carla Uriarte on a new collection for summer. Introducing Stay Freaky, a unique capsule of whimsical pieces in free-spirited prints.

Romance Was Born

Think tie-dye tees, bold bucket hats, flared shorts and embroidered denim. As for the graphics, they are Carla's own. Her animal illustrations are printed across the linen pieces in the collection. The creative dye techniques are thanks to co-founder of the brand Luke - the cotton terry towelling sets and kooky tees are imbued with his brand of whimsy. The custom Levi's denim pieces are full of flair, shouting out to all warriors for love.

The campaign for the collection was shot by RUSSH's own Kitty Callaghan down in Elizabeth Bay, nearby to Carla's home. The images were taken on the foreshore and our into the harbour on a kayak, encapsulating the joy and infectious fun-loving vibe of the collection itself.

Romance Was Born said of the collection: "Meditation should be the drug of the nation! Grand statements aside, this happens to be how we bonded with our girl Carla Uriarte, at meditation class. Carla is a super good vibe artist, stream-of-consciousness tripper and warrior for love - right on sister! We were drawn to her optimism and downright cool art and this upbeat collaboration is just what the season calls for."

Carla Uriarte explains her inspirations for the collaboration: "This collection embodies the deep rooted positivity that lives within. That feeling that you get when you're jumping into water. Picnics in the park as the sun sets. Friends and wine and dirt hills. Kayaking over jellyfish. 'Staying freaky' cause it's the only thing you know how to do."

The pieces from the Romance Was Born x Carla Uriarte Stay Freaky collection are available now on the Romance Was Born website.
