Five shows like ‘The Beast In Me’ to keep you on the edge of your seat

The Beast In Me

Ever been fascinated by your neighbours lives? Then The Beast In Me might just be for you. The latest hit to land on Netflix stars Clare Danes as Angie Wiggs, a grieving writer drawn into a dangerous, obsessive fascination with her enigmatic neighbour, Nile Jarvis (played by Matthew Rhys). Across eight episodes, the series weaves suspense, moral ambiguity, and psychological intrigue, leaving you constantly guessing about exactly who the story's monster is.

If you happen to already have burned through the series, then you're in luck. Below, five shows like The Beast In Me we're watching next.

1. All Her Fault

Where to watch: Binge

Our obsession with this show is well documented. It stars Sarah Snook as a mother who arrives to pick her young son up from a playdate, only to find him missing, and the house she’s at isn’t the one she thinks. Co-starring Dakota Fanning (along with several other local and international names), it delves into themes of motherhood, privilege, distrust and uncovered secrets. The question becomes: in a world of suspicion, who is really to blame?

2. The Undoing

Where to watch: HBO Max

Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant deliver equally mesmerising performances in this thriller, where a picture-perfect life is fractured by murder, betrayal, and the revelation of long-buried secrets. If you like your shows served with high tension, then look no further. The Undoing explores the fragile facades of wealth and reputation, showing how one shocking act can instantly shatter a carefully constructed life.

3. Big Little Lies

Where to watch: Binge, HBO Max

The book that Big Little Lies is based on (by Liane Moriarty) takes place in a coastal Australian town, but for the series adaptation, we're transported to  the sun-soaked beauty of Monterey, California. Beneath the perfectly curated lives of its protagonists (played by a stellar cast of Nicole Kidman, Laura Dern, Zoë Kravitz, Shailene Woodley, Meryl Streep and Reese Witherspoon – among others) lie envy, betrayal, and secrets that threaten to explode. Each episode peels back layers of the characters’ facades, revealing the fragility and complexity of relationships, and the dark impulses hiding beneath polite smiles. And there's more to come, with a third season en route.

4. The Watcher

Where to watch: Netflix

What happens a seemingly idyllic suburban home becomes the epicenter of paranoia and dread? You get a series like The Watcher. When a family moves into their dream house, they start receiving anonymous letters from “The Watcher,” a mysterious figure who claims to be observing them—and knows unsettling details about their lives. Every shadow, glance, and unexplained noise becomes a threat, making this show a masterclass in uneasy watching.

5. Disclaimer

Where to watch: Apple TV+

Cate Blanchett leads this story, and keeps you on your toes the entire time. She plays journalist Catherine Ravenscroft, who is taken by surprise – literally – when a book is published that seems to detail a life-altering (and buried) secret from her past. She spends much of the series trying to track down who wrote it, with her personal life quickly unravelling as more and more people read the book, and connect the dots. However, nothing is what it seems in this show, and there's a huge twist to keep you guessing right until the last minute.
