We’re taking our ‘Severance’ questions to the stars: Here’s our guide to each character’s star sign

With Severance season two hurtling towards its final episodes, we’ve spent enough time inside the fluorescent maze of Lumon Industries to feel like we know its employees (or at least, their innies) inside out: their defiance, their devotion, and their deep-seated need to make sense of the system they’re trapped in.

But what really drives Mark’s quiet resilience? Why does Helly refuse to back down? And why does Irving’s loyalty run so unwaveringly deep? Maybe the answers are written in the stars, or maybe we’re just looking for cosmic logic in a place where logic is a corporate construct. Either way, we’re assigning star signs to the MDR team and beyond.

In the spirit of light rebellion and the Severance season coming to an end, below we have assigned star signs to the MDR team and beyond.

Mark S - Scorpio

Intense, secretive, and emotionally complex, Mark is fuelled by a consuming fire. As an outie, he drowns in grief but buries it beneath dry humour and detachment. A true Scorpio, he internalises pain, clinging to Lumon for control, because facing the unknown is far scarier than staying in his emotions.

Beneath it all, both versions of Mark are driven by deep love and grief, emotions Scorpios feel with overwhelming intensity but rarely reveal. His final moments in season one, as buried memories flood back. Scorpios seek rebirth, even if it means burning everything down.

Helly R– Gemini

Helly R. embodies Gemini’s duality, restless, rebellious, and sharp-witted. From the moment she wakes up in Lumon, she refuses to accept her circumstances, questioning authority with a sharp tongue. Geminis are quick thinkers, ruled by Mercury, the planet of communication, and Helly’s constant back-and-forth with Mark, her clever retorts, and her ability to strategise her way out of Lumon’s grip make her a textbook example. There’s also the classic Gemini contradiction: her outie is completely different from her innie, almost as if she’s living two lives because, in a way, she is.

Ms. Casey / Gemma – Aquarius

Detached yet deeply perceptive, Ms. Casey (or Gemma) exudes the eerie stillness of an Aquarius. As Lumon’s wellness counsellor, she delivers odd poetic yet sterile affirmations, showcasing Aquarius’ ability to intellectualise emotions rather than fully feel them. There’s something deeply human yet completely alien about her role, she’s meant to comfort but does so in a clinical, robotic way. Meanwhile, the broader mystery of her identity aligns with Aquarius’ association with the unexpected, the unconventional, and the boundary-pushing nature of experiments.

Miss Huang – Aries

Aries energy radiates from Miss Huang. She’s upfront, bold, and unafraid to call things out for what they are, whether it’s Mark’s avoidance's or the sheer weirdness of it all. Aries are the initiators, the fire starters, one with no filter, ready to challenge stagnation. Her straightforwardness and unwillingness to entertain nonsense make her the kind of person who forces others into action, whether they’re ready or not.

Burt – Sagittarius

Burt has the curiosity, free spirit, and philosophical depth of a Sagittarius. Sagittarians are travelers, seekers of knowledge and sometimes, their wisdom manifests in unexpected places, like, say, Lumon. Burt’s love for art, his exploration beyond the confines of Optics & Design, and his willingness to push boundaries (both personally and professionally) make him a quiet yet undeniable Sagittarian. His connection with Irving represents Sag’s love for adventure, romance, and seeking something bigger than themselves, even in the most confined spaces.

Devon – Leo

Devon carries the warmth, confidence, and protectiveness of a Leo. She’s fiercely loyal to her brother, Mark, and unafraid to challenge Lumon’s control, much like a Leo’s natural inclination to stand up for their pride. Her strong presence and ability to lead conversations with conviction reflect Leo’s bold and charismatic energy. She doesn’t just support Mark, she encourages him to embrace his strength, making her a true lion-hearted protector.

Mr. Milchick – Capricorn

Milchick is the embodiment of a Capricorn enforcer: disciplined, ambitious, and completely devoted to the system. Capricorns are ruled by Saturn, the planet of structure and control, and Milchick thrives in Lumon’s rigid environment. He’s meticulous, always playing the long game, and knows how to switch between affable and menacing in an instant. His relentless work ethic and ability to keep things running smoothly, even under the most bizarre circumstances make him the ultimate corporate Capricorn.

Ricken – Pisces

Ricken’s philosophical musings and grandiose self-reflection make him an interesting Pisces. Pisces are known for their dreaminess and poetic approach to life, and The You You Are reads like the work of someone deeply connected to their inner world. He’s imaginative, believes in transcending societal norms, and sees himself as a visionary, qualities that align with the emotional, artistic, and spiritual nature of Pisces.

Ms. Cobell – Virgo

Ms. Cobell is Virgo perfection; precise, detail-oriented, and obsessed with control. Virgos are ruled by Mercury, making them sharp, analytical, and often incredibly critical. Cobell’s dedication to Lumon, her methodical approach to maintaining order, and her obsession with perfection (whether in Mark’s work performance or her own personal investigations) make her a textbook Virgo. There’s also the deeper, more neurotic Virgo trait, anxiety masked as control, is present in how she micromanages everything, even when it starts to slip beyond her grasp.

Irving – Cancer

Irving is the nurturing and emotionally intuitive Cancer of the group. Cancers are deeply protective, and Irve's presence in the show is defined by his role as being that. He supports the office, provides a sense of stability, and generally exudes the warmth and sensitivity of a Cancer who just wants to keep his tribe safe.

Dylan – Taurus

Dylan is all Taurus: stubborn, materialistic, and fiercely loyal. His obsession with perks (finger traps, waffle parties) mirrors Taurus' love for tangible rewards and sensory indulgence. But beneath his playful, slightly hedonistic exterior, Dylan is steadfast and unwavering. His loyalty to his team becomes his defining trait. Like a true Taurus, once he’s locked onto something that matters, he does not let go.
