Spring has technically arrived, but the forecast is yet to catch up. Some mornings I'm shivering in my winter coat, but by lunch I've stripped down to a tank top and am soaking in some much-needed vitamin D. If we're lucky, weekends are light and bright – and warm enough for a string bikini, a book, and some good summer linens. But on the occasion when it's drizzly and cold, I’m not opposed to layering up in a good knit and my favourite denim and pretending it’s still winter (usually while watching something great on TV, if you're wondering).
I'm an optimist (at least when it comes to fashion), so I like to think of this sporadic weather in a positive light: you don't have
to commit to spring dressing all at once. Instead, you can ease into the idea of warmer weather. Essentially, I’m looking for clothes that acknowledge the season has changed, while also acknowledging that I can rarely predict what the temperature will do by 3pm.
In other words, my September favourites are a bit of a mixed bag. There are the practical pieces I’m excited to wear now, as well as the things I’m already mentally packing for summer. A good button-down shirt, a barely-there sandal, a broad-brimmed hat, a tote made for the beach. There's also a healthy dose of things that simply caught my eye. September is a good month for a little wardrobe optimism: more colour, lighter fabrics, perhaps a pattern, even some fringe if you're feeling brave.
Below, embrace the seasons ahead, with all of my September 2026 fashion favourites.
